to be fair, some jokes have already been done to death before people decide they are worth dissecting

Most people watch sitcoms while doing something else, hence why so many had/have laugh tracks. Videos like this highlight why shows like 30 Rock and Arrested Development were critical darlings: the writing was so incredibly good! Unfortunately, you have to pay attention to appreciate good writing.
