Is this a joke, because the phrase "bacon is a spice" really doesn't strike me as that weird. It's clearly meant to mean that bacon is the sort of thing many people add to literally everything to give it a bacon flavour. People use it like a spice. I have no idea what this show is so I'm not really sure how to interpret this claim that this would have cost the election
