Fundamentally, Marxism differs from anarchism in the domain of centralization vs decentralization. The commune model, where each small commune will have its own unique characteristics, is more of an anarchist conception than a Marxist conception. It isn't about tribalism, either, it's founded on entirely different understandings of Political Economy.
The question of Marxism-Leninism vs Maoism is necessary, because both are analytical differences that lead to different strategy and tactics. They aren't arguments about centralization, but about how to structure revolution, where the revolution comes from, and how to build a socialist society. This isn't something that can be accomplished by just letting MLs be MLs and Maoists be Maoists.
