With sugar or maple syrup, or is it a special dinner topping?

Ended up at lunchtime, white sugar and lemon juice or lime juice for the big people and the 2 kids had maple syrup

I'm trying to decide if pancakes with sugar/maple syrup is dinner or desert, or if we make pancake lasagne or something 😆
