But wasn't the USSR separated sometime after the Cold War?

Yes, in 1991 it was illegally dissolved against the will of the people, and as a result poverty skyrocketed and roughly 7 million people died. The USSR didn't fail, it was killed.

That doesn't change that it did work, doubling life expectancy, reducing working hours, free education and healthcare, and more.

Consider reading Blackshirts and Reds. I think it might be eye-opening for you.

I guess the people who to this day are celebrating the dates of their countries' independence for the Soviet Union don't count.
