How does he keep getting elected?

[–] [email protected] 4 points 2 days ago (1 children)

That’s the one day people support him

Toronto will vote for anyone with the last name Ford

And Ontario for some reason always votes for the Con/Lib based on which isn’t in power Federally

Half the reason we are in this mess is Toronto was too smart to elect Doug mayor and now instead the whole province gets to deal with him. He also gets to get revenge on Toronto by demolishing bike lanes.

They elected his brother because the opponent was gay

He took road money from Northern Ontario to pay for the 401 expansion in Toronto

There’s a reason people outside Toronto call him Premier of Toronto

Didn't doug run after his brother? I'm not 100% familiar with Torontos political history i just remember something about doug not winning mayor of Toronto.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 2 days ago

He did but it wasn’t really a campaign, he only just met the deadline after Rob dropped out due to health

The next run he gave up on it before the vote to be provincial PC leader

[–] [email protected] 8 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Because he doesn't campaign on policy, and most people couldn't really tell you his policies other than "cheap beer, open for business, Toronto bad".

[–] [email protected] 2 points 2 days ago (1 children)

I’m in Alberta. They don’t even offer us cheap beer here.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 2 days ago (1 children)

To be fair he didn't really offer. He threw around the term buck a beer a couple times but booze has actually been increasing in price since hes been elected.

[–] [email protected] 0 points 2 days ago

Yeah but wasn’t there supposed to be the “buck a beer” beer that he had going? Is that still a thing?

[–] [email protected] 10 points 2 days ago (1 children)

First-past-the-post giving him a false majority.

[–] [email protected] 7 points 2 days ago

First past the post is a fucking dunce cap on democracy.

Those of us who live in the province but voted for someone else aren't quite sure, but the fact that a lot of people seem not to have realized the last election was even taking place may have had something to do with it.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 2 days ago

Yeah I don’t get it. Are they just advertising these elections on conservative talk radio or something?
