I have to be careful with the antihistamines I use due to other medications I'm on and due to my job being operating heavy machinery

Basically if the side effect list includes drowsiness I can't take it

Azelistine has never, to my knowledge, made me drowsy. It's not taken in a pill - it's a spray. You shoot it right onto the problem area (if that area is the nose - though, there's eye drops I hear as well.)

This said, do absolutely consult a doctor if you can... BUT, this is actually an over-the-counter drug as of a few years ago. Easy to try if you can't afford the allergist. Maybe on your day off, if you can take it with the other(s). Google it, or ideally ask your doctor first.
