I'm getting these bald spots on the back of my separate scalp mesh. The hair is not combed behind the scalp, it's just not there at all. Weight painting is totally red for both density and length, and I've tried disabling modifiers like frizz and noise, and every other one. Does my model just have bad genes?

UPDATE: The shader was the culprit! The missing hair was simply transparent, but I've switched the short hair to a simple node, and it's all a lot smoother. The complex setup is still on the longer hair.

A post on reddit mentioned it, https://www.reddit.com/r/blender/s/x5spMcUxoS I also had a 1 star review removed for saying a different addon wasn't compatible with linux when most blender addons are and no where in their description do they specify that. (different addon, same marketplace, they didn't change the description after my review was removed either)

Seems like they remove all 1 star reviews to artificially inflate the value of everything on their site since they make a profit off anything sold. It seems they also take a large cut out of any sale.

I made this fan animation for a game called THE FINALS and I thought I'd share it here. This is my first real blender project, and it helped me learn quite a bit about blender

I have a human character with hair and facial hair (beard, eyelashes eyebrows) made with curves from separate meshes like a scalp. I am attempting to rig my character, but when I select automatic weights for the base meshes, the hair doesn't move at all, and the hair itself can only be parented to a bone. This is fine for the head hair, but not so much for the rest.

Is it possible to achieve rig deformation with curve hair?

From this tutorial

I am actively learning new things and put a bit of line art on it. I am absolutely enamored with 3-D to 2D stylistically and it’s just just not quite there yet for me.. maybe soon :T

It's brutal! Why can't it compile the openCL kernel 1 time and then store it somewhere for later use or something? Plz?

I tried searching for this, but to no avail. Previous versions of Blender had a Sculpting brush toolbar hotkey, Shift+Space, for bringing up the brush slection in the Viewport. It seems to have changed with one of the latest update, does anyone know the new one?

Here are some very beginner attempts at 3D art I made for a personal sci-fi worldbuilding project. I knew absolutely nothing about 3D art (art in general, really) until January of last year when I downloaded Blender on a lark and started poking around. Why not? It's free. Texturing and shading is proving quite daunting, so I've been sticking with a more primitive style. Kinda reminds me of the show ReBoot.

All made in Blender of course πŸ™

I've been working, lately, on a character model of Dean Winchester/Jensen Ackles. After some feedback from the community, I believe the likeness has gotten pretty close. Next step will be adding his jacket, real texturing, and rigging.

Let me know your thoughts, I'm always keen for feedback πŸ™

I'm considering getting into it with some add-ons, even though Blender will be adding in the upcoming release potentially. What are your thoughts? Have you played around with it yet? Seems very interesting for concepting

I'm not very good at blender yet, but I like seeing other ppls submissions and trying my hand at them. Think monthly/weekly contests are a good way to get more engagment here. I would not like to be in charge of holding them and just want to drum up interest lol.

This book SUCKED. And not due to its informational value!!!

It was because the pages tended to pop off. It's a shitty binding, see?

The publisher, Not a Number (aka Blender's custodian corp) issued a recall, and offered to do spiral binding on these things. I was a university entrant. Book swappage could have been expensive. Didn't do it.

So I have a book that creaks. Half of it dedicated to turbo rad late 1990s art.

("Blender v1.5 Manual", by Ton Roosendaal, published by Not a Number in 1998, ISBN 90-76519-01-3)
