Yea that seems pretty high. I have a solo pixelfed server that runs around $5 / month. It doesn't get a lot of use though

PopOS is the only thing I have a few minutes away with

Yeah it's like if you had a calculator and 10% of the time it gave you the wrong answer. Would that be a good tool for learning? We should be careful when using these tools and understand their limitations. Gen AI may give you an answer that happens to be correct some of the time (maybe even most of the time!) but they do not have the ability to actually reason. This is why they give back answers that we understand intuitively are incorrect (like putting glue on pizza), but sometimes the mistakes can be less intuitive or subtle which is worse in my opinion.

And it's also a way for topic focused servers to filter out signups as well. There are general purpose instances with open sign ups that don't do that.

Lot of bad passing decisions out there. Need to do a lot better to be able to come back from this in the second half.

Yeah if the settings panel had feature parity with control panel but with a better user experience nobody would mind but it's less features AND a worse experience.

I remember trying to change some mouse settings on windows 10 but they removed the ability to get to the old mouse options from the desktop. I drilled down through the settings app and eventually buried deep I found where it would let me open up that same old mouse settings modal to get to what I wanted to change. More clicks, more searching, and less features = poor user experience

Now if we could just shore up the left side with some more depth

Yup, I like Lemmy but there are still those subreddits that Lemmy can't fully replace for certain sports teams I follow.

I'm definitely worried about what shenanigans they're going to pull in November. They tried to steal the election in 2020 and they're going to try again....and it seems like they learned a few lessons from the first time

You can absolutely see your poop in the water and the water would turn red or a darker color if there was blood which is probably more obvious lol

I'm pretty sure you can install Firefox on those too can't you?

Manchester United have agreed on personal terms with Manuel Ugarte.

Contract terms discussed, player keen on moving to United even without Champions League football.

Club-to-club talks continue with PSG, as more clubs also inquired.

Same agent as Leny Yoro: Jorge Mendes.

Manchester United have green light from both Joshua Zirkzee and Matthijs de Ligt to join the club.

Both players have spoken to Erik ten Hag with Man United now ready to advance on club side in the coming days.

It’s all approved on salary/commission also for Zirkzee.

Anyone using OSMC (yall.theatl.social)

I'm interested in trying out OSMC because I'm really tired of my smart TV being well...not that smart. It crashes a lot of we have to reboot it manually because one of the apps isn't working.

How is it? Is it still pretty easy to use streaming apps? We mostly use Netflix, Disney+, and Apple TV. Occasionally some others as well

Does it work well with Chromecast?

Manchester United are hoping to strike a deal with Everton for Jarrad Branthwaite after agreeing personal terms with the England defender’

United are also pursuing a deal for Leny Yoro despite fierce competition for the Lille centre-half.

Everton are holding out for at least £70 million for Branthwaite, which is significantly higher than United’s valuation but the Manchester club are hoping a compromise can be struck.

Linux for Kids? (yall.theatl.social)
submitted 4 months ago* (last edited 4 months ago) by [email protected] to c/[email protected]

I'm thinking about building a desktop with one of my kids and I would really prefer to put Linux on it. My wife is not a fan of the idea, however.

I'm wondering are there any good Linux distros/utilities for children that include parental control features and things like that? And that are easy to use for a child who has only used basic Chromebooks in the past?

For reference the child is under 12.

Bad news :(

From the "Georgia Newsletter" by Austin Louis Ray:

And now, folks in the West End are getting their very own version of it. El Tesoro has officially opened its second location at Wild Heaven Beer in the Lee & White development right on the BeltLine.

"It’s such a great location for us to have a presence in the West End," co-owner Alan Raines tells me. "It is very Tesoro. A huge boost for us."
