It's from The Handmaid's Tale. Great TV show based on an amazing book that is all too relevant.

If you haven't read or seen it, you should. Like right now. Before January 20th at least. Margaret Atwood made sure that everything that happens in the story is something that has happened (to women) at some point in history. Because she knew there would be men saying that it's sensationalist, and would never happen... turns out all of it has happened.

Beware: it is harrowing. Very very very bad stuff. But sometimes it's necessary to not turn away from these horrifying things. Especially when they're happening again.

It's like the authors of Project 2025 read it and used it as an instruction manual, rather than a warning.

The more things change, the more they stay the same. Republican president fucks everything up, democrat gets elected to fix it, fixes it but in doing so gets nothing they promised acomplished, voters blame democrats and swing right. Rinse and repeat.

Yup. We elected the black guy (twice), and people lost their fucking minds.

Dude was a moderate, center-right, President, but none of that mattered. They spent 8 years fantasizing about lynching him.

And now this is our retribution.

You know that they can just stop EVs from taking off, right? We elected an autocrat.

They can also stop infrastructure for it from being built, and perhaps even tear down existing infrastructure. Well, aside from the ones Tesla owns of course. At least until he and Elon have their falling out

I wonder if Mike had to text his son when Trump brought the hookers out immediately after this photo was taken.

Under fascism, all corporations become an extension of the government. Those that refuse to are nationalized or eliminated.

He's afraid of someone poisoning him.

I'm not joking. He probably should be too, he makes enemies of everyone he's ever come in contact with.

Including the people in this photo. He will use them until he has no more need for them, and then he will throw them under the bus, or ditch them, or now use one of the many arms of the federal government that will be at his whim to bury them.

That's what he does, he uses people and then disposes of them. The ones he can't get rid of completely become his enemy.

Unfortunately, now, he will have means to get rid of them completely in various creative ways. Because that's what autocrats do. Look out for people like Michael Cohen, Stormy Daniels, et. al. to start disappearing or dying mysteriously.

If there was a "Deep State," now would be the time to step up and do something to protect the Republic... Could you imagine if they manage to take him out with poisoned McDs? lol

Wow, I can say with confidence that this is the first time I've ever wished for a plane to crash. Just one patriotic pilot is all it would take.

I really don't like that these shitstains make me feel such vitriol...

A nice window to the future for US citizens critical of their government... a window ripe for defenestration...

If I die mysteriously from a fall, please refer to this comment.

So basically you lie to them and tell them what they want to hear? Stoke fear of "the others" among them to keep them scared and angry?

Yeah, no, I'm good.

Many of those people will inexplicably be against a 50% tax on billionaires for two reasons: 1) they have no concept of how progressive tax brackets work, and think that means they'd be taking literally half that person's wealth, and 2) they believe that one day they could be in that situation, and when they are, they sure as shit won't want to pay half of their wealth! (spoiler alert: they won't)

And until we can change this type of thinking, we will never make those people pay their fair share.

This is what decades of American Exceptionalism, and Rugged Individualism, does to a nation; Empathy dies, and it becomes every man for themselves.
