I do think we can blame the electoral college to a certain extent. How many people sat home in deep red states because their vote never matters? Unless you live in a handful of states there is almost no point. Take that away and let the people have a voice, not some bullshit system which was designed to prevent leaders like him getting elected.

This hurt me to read because I believe it. I wouldn’t have yesterday. I feel shame to live among these people anymore. I can’t reasonably leave but I’m not sure what else to do. This feels like defeat in a way I thought could never happen. Probably because I believed in those things that made America great. Not the government, but the people. You’re right, they are not the norm but the exception to what it means to be American. Fuck me.

They can be garbage and still be governed fairly at the same time.

We’re only 4 years from recreating Idiocracy. Hell we might already be there. Save us, Luke Wilson. You’re our only hope.

Neither am I. My point, if I had one, was more about the fact he was being Xenophobic. Not like he isn’t part of the group trying to establish a Christian state here.

I mostly agree with you. That said I don’t think Harris should be considered a replacement. Who I want to see is some combination of Gretchen Whitmer, Elizabeth Warren, AOC and Pete Buttigieg. I do recognize none of those are likely to run and I’m no expert on who should.

We have a perfectly good collider at home.

Some people just want to live their lives looking after their families. The idea that someone who wants to mind their own business being evil is a sad world view. I’m not suggesting that fascism should be ignored but what would you have me do? Take up arms and shoot my neighbors?

Imagine this quote in reverse. Imagine that the issue is with people being pacifist towards communism. Then what? Who is evil now? You think communism hasn’t been responsible for its own atrocities? These are just forms of government but man is the one who is corrupted.
