It's not exactly what you're asking, but you can view the post as a different user, which would presumably have a different blocklist, so then you could see the comments.

I like the idea of being able to view anonymously, too, from your configured anonymous accounts. The infrastructure is there in the post to "view as..." so that might not be too hard to add.

Maybe some day I’ll learn how to contribute to Thunder myself.

That would be awesome!

Hey! I just wanted to chime in here and mention that this seems to be a Lemmy issue. I was able to reproduce this on lemmy.world by following your exact set of steps (create a comment, edit it, don't change anything, save it). Lemmy marks the comment as edited.

In Thunder, we just retrieve the edited state from Lemmy, so I'm not sure we can do anything about this case, but you might want to submit a bug report here: https://github.com/LemmyNet/lemmy

Hey thanks! I think you mean Thunder. :-) Thunderbird is a mail client from Mozilla (also a great app lol).

If you have a bug or feature request to report, you can create an issue on GitHub. https://github.com/thunder-app/thunder

If you just want to have a discussion with the devs and other community members, you can check out our Matrix. https://matrix.to/#/#thunderapp:matrix.org

Thanks for checking it out. Yeah we do have quite a backlog of issues to work through. Obviously we prioritize bugs and the most popular feature requests. Feel free to submit an issue any time you want though! It may be that we can help come up with a workaround that gets you what you want. Otherwise sometimes if its an easy change one of the devs will knock it out quickly. But if nothing else it'll be there for other people to react to. :)

(Disclaimer, I'm one of the devs.) Thunder is cross-platform and very actively developed! There was a release two days ago. We keep up with Lemmy API changes and we're constantly squashing bugs and adding new features. Check it out!

Previously, having user display names enabled allowed us to tap and hold the names for the actual username to appear in a toast popup. Now the popup displays the same information (display name).

Thanks for the report! I have a change open to fix this.
