I had to look this up, didn't know about Bowie. He had underage groupies, at least as young as 15 (Lori Mattix). Apparently she remembers that time fondly, but today we would rightly call it coercion and pedophilia. She was treated kindly, probably given all the drugs she "wanted", but that's still a child.

There's a counter argument about how later in life, he refused a kissing scene between him and Jennifer Connelly during Labyrinthe, and that shows he understands the age gap is wrong.

I don't regularly listen to David Bowie. I can sometimes separate the art from artist, but I'm now gonna have trouble knowing he was having sex with (raping) a 15 year old girl.

Eric Clapton is super racist, John Lennon abandoned his kid.

You are 100% correct.

I think OP agrees with you too, but the question is more around the "why". Once, we were also like animals, and didn't have clothing. To the animal brain, things like large breasts or wide hips means better reproduction. Did we start to cover up because it was cold and we got sick? It makes more sense to me that we started for practical reasons, and the hyper-sexualization came later, probably with religion.

Today, women are sexualized to an insane degree, and expanded to any number of inane body parts and not just breasts.

I think OPs question could also be phrased as "why did sex become so taboo?" And we might get a broader picture.

I was literally going to mention the Center of the Universe lol. It's got some crazy acoustics.

One of our haunted houses called the Hex House is based on a legend of a lady who kept a couple of women "hexed" as slaves in her basement. The police found them and the owner did jail time.

As a counterpoint, I like it in video games for the same irl reason: it saves time.

I do love games where it feels alive when traveling on foot/horse/etc. but I would rather fast travel if I've already explored it, generally speaking.

It might depend on the school district, but my family has worked for 3 different ones across a couple states, and they would not get paid monthly or anything over the summer. First check for them would come in September even, and we start school in mid to late August around here.

IIRC they would get a larger sum at the end of the school year to hold them over til the fall. I vaguely recall my step mom talking about how every year there would be a teacher who budgets poorly and forgets the first paycheck isn't until September.

2 days off during the school year is insane, but teachers don't really work during summer vacation. If the school picks a new book for their class then there's work. They're really just required to show up a couple weeks before school starts, at least in my state.

My step mom and her whole family were teachers (5 total). Ranging from kindergarten to high school. I don't think any of them had as little as 2 days off allowed per school year, but I imagine some districts could be that shitty.

I guess I'm still unclear why guzzling water from a hose is related to a dog marking territory. Am I that dense?

Edit: yes I am. Drinking a bunch of water so that he needs to mark territory, so to speak.

Sometimes my ~~genius~~ stupidity is almost frightening

Definitely the latter.

Sex work in the US is still considered highly shameful, even as the amount of content grows every year and is clearly consumed by a ton of people in the US. Businesses don't want to be associated with the taboo.

I'd say so, at least sometimes. Imagine finding somewhat recent Facebook posts from a new hire and finding out they're a Nazi, racist, etc. I'd still want grounds to fire them.

Whether this situation applies? I don't think so. Some company just doesn't want to risk bad PR.

Agreed, certainly possible, but I haven't personally granted Sync permissions to anything except notifications.
