Would love to see some bipartisan support for banning congress members from trading stocks. Both sides are doing it to such a degree that they are more likely to be replaced before any legislation regarding this gets passed. There’s an extremely suspicious money trail, and it should be investigated. There may be a criminal presumption of innocence, but there is at least probable cause of illegal activity here.

The title literally says "Trump is actually guilty" despite there being no evidence he is guilty. Rich guys try to bribe politicians in roundabout ways all the time. I'm not discounting the possibility of it Trump being involved in it but there's no evidence of it now yet the article is stating that he's guilty. How is he supposed to prevent someone from buying up all the rooms in his hotels in an attempt to get on his good side? Trump is not involved in the day to day of his business and its not out of the question that he had no idea it was happening until after it happened.

The Clinton Foundation is a charity. Don’t get me wrong, charities can be used for the illicit transfer of money

Give me a break. What's the point of bringing up the fact that it's a charity if you admit charities are used for this exact purpose all the time. Why do you think the Saudi's donated 10 figure amounts to the Clinton foundation? Because they believe in its charitable goals?

He spent it in hopes trump would return the favor. There is no evidence Trump requested it. I hope you keep the same attitude when looking at people who donated to the Clinton foundation.

I was expecting a much more solid claim based on the headline. Instead it's "dude buys a bunch of hotel rooms in hopes it would make trump return favors" yet no evidence favors were promised.

Definitely the muslims. Believe it or not the far right doesn't hate muslims, just don't want to be around them. They think American involvement in the muslim world was a result of American military being used for Jewish interests. But they consider Israel to be the leading force in global destabilization. So 100% they are rooting for Palestine.

You guys pathologize normal opinions a lot of people have way too much. There were journalists that created entire false narratives around the Iraq war, which is almost certainly of much bigger negative effect on the world than Alex Jones saying some retarded conspiracy shit.

He does not have 1b dollars, don't be ridiculous. And don't pretend he made all his money from sandy hook conspiracies either. Journalists tell lies all the time, and they're never hit with 1b in damages

I'm advocating for reasonable punishments for crimes rather than a small nation's gdp in damages because he is politically controversial. I think we can all agree that courts should not be handing out unfathomably large punishments in civil cases just because the person is politically unpopular.

I think punishments should be realistic and not make a man pay 1 billion fucking dollars because he said something stupid. Take the money he made from such statements, with maybe a little bit more on as punishment. There is no world in which a 1.1b amount makes sense. The only purpose is to put him in debt for his entire life, and since this is a political hot button issue people will cheer it along.

If you were the one who actually killed the kids you would have a lower damages value.

Lemmy: "NO ONE SHOULD BE A BILLIONAIRE" also Lemmy: "1 billion dollars is a fair punishment for saying stupid shit"

The answer is I'm not under the impression that every drag show is like that, but some definitely are and it seems like you people don't bat an eye or self police in any way.
