The First Amendment.

Thank you so much for saying so! I'm really happy with how this one turned out given how it's not the kind of thing I usually draw.

As for the sharing, I'm just glad I've found a nice community here!

Although, at a high enough zoom, Earth could also be a crescent.

Planets closer to the sun than you can be in a range of places relative to you and the sun, and so you can see parts of it that are illuminated and parts that are in shadow. Venus and Mercury can both be seen as crescents when viewed from the Earth

When you're looking at a planet further out than you are, you only see the part of the planet that's facing the sun because that's the same part that facing you. So from Earth, the planet Mars looks like a disc.

Hi! What a lovely thing to be told. Yes, it's original, drawn last night. Based on a photo I took in Denmark. No website just yet, and nothing like commissions on the horizon -- but maybe some day!

Hi there! And just to make matters more confusing, a previous misunderstanding about how Lemmy works means I post here too: https://feddit.uk/u/case_when

Thank you! The trouble has always been finding a clean, reliable white ink. Most of the stuff I've used has ended up gumming up my pen. This was gel pen but it was horrid to use.

I didn't like this when I first drew it, but looking again I'm warming to it.

He was sitting in front of Guy's and St Thomas' Hospital when he painted this. I've sat in the same place and drawn the exact same view, 110 years later.
