The admin you had a talk with posted the conversation and he was VERY fair towards you.

Congrats mate ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿป๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿป Thanks for everything you do with your instance and with fediseer.

Yep, this community is banned from lemmy.ml - no special code or anything suspicious going on.

In a VM you can not really use your GPU so that's not the way to go about it. So no, you seem uninformed

This whole comment is a load of bigoted crap.

Where has all the LGBT acceptance in the West gotten us?

People being able to live their lives the way they want to without bothering anyone?

some states wonโ€™t allow them to teach children about anal sex.

You're making shit up. Mad anal sex is not restricted to homosexuals you prude ๐Ÿ˜

but as a result of their sinful lifestyle?

Sinful to you because you believe in your imaginary friend in the sky.

lack of tolerance is

Like your entire comment and when I dive deeper it's everywhere in your comment history too

Just fyi. You have [email protected] in this thread using his alt @[email protected] here. He is moderator on known pedo and Loli instance burgitt.moe and he has been very angry at us at Lemmy World for calling him out.

He now pretends that it is not his account even though CJO obviously stands for CookieJarObserver, he also speaks German and he is defending the person that is 'totally not him'.

Pretty sure he is using at least one other account here to play stupid - Amillionnames. This user popped up around the same time CJO had his accounts banned and is always in the same threads. And now they are having conversations pretending they are not the same person.

Yes I am all over this thread with my alt (because I could not talk to him from my LW account since he is banned) but it all just clicked. He was in every thread that mentions LW talking shit with his alts which made me wonder why he would not give his main account so this could be reviewed.

Now we know.

Bye

Regarding it being โ€œfederatedโ€, I can find InternetTubes both on lemmy.world and lemmy.ml, but lemmy.worldโ€™s modlog also shows that kbin.social/InternetTubes has been banned YET lemmy.mlโ€™s modlog doesnโ€™t show it, so the claim that all that is modlog is federated seems sort of iffy.

So my "claim" is "iffy", ok. Any Lemmy admin can tell you there are issues with the code. And why would an action from LW purposely be removed from the modlog on lemmy.ml?

You can't convince me that you're not internettubes yourself btw. You started posting as soon as Internettubes was banned and the few conversations you join is about the ban.

Now that you are here, as an admin of the instance, can you say anything else about the ban versus what the user is claiming, or is it supposed to be left to speculation?

What's not clear? The user publicly said they did not agree to the TOS so they got removed. If you don't agree during signup your account will be locked as well.

No modlog editing happened. The modlog is federated so editing it makes no sense.

Look up the user internettubes in the modlog and you will find it:

MichelleG is an alt of @[email protected] who is active, she's one of the Lemmy World admins and was added by TheDude on sh.itjust.works to remove spam (or worse) accounts. That's about all her involvement with the instance as well.

Ik zit midden in een verhuis naar een nieuw kantoorgebouw voor het werk en ben omringd door dozen en rommel. Tegen vrijdag moeten we eruit zijn dus het is even rushen! Fijne dag iedereen!

Lemmy World on Fediseer (gui.fediseer.com)
submitted 2 years ago* (last edited 2 years ago) by [email protected] to c/[email protected]

Hello Lemmyverse!

First of all we want to say THANK YOU to both @[email protected] and @[email protected] for making this happen. The addition of tags, censures and hesitations following Rikudou's GUI being included to Fediseer offically has done a lot to bring this tool to the next level. As we said before, on Lemmy World we now implemented this tool in our flow on how to handle spam- or other types of abusive instances. The system also had his first test-run this week when there was a spam-wave of accounts from different instances and we were able to fend those off by temporarely adding the instances to our hesitations list. Once the admins of those instances were contacted and tightened up security a bit they were removed from our hesitation list and re-federated.

dbzer0.com was protected during that time because they followed Lemmy World's hesitations and therefor their communities also remained spam-free!

We're looking forward to see how this evolves, when more and more admins start using this tool - allowing us to protect eachother.

So lastly, we want would like to point the instance admins that are reading this to https://gui.fediseer.com/instances/detail/lemmy.world

As you see we've spent quite a bit of time going over different blocklists from instances and combining them into the Lemmy World one. We're also going over the Fediverse-Blocklist and adding instances from there.

The worst offenders are already in the list, but we'll keep working on making our list as complete as possible. Due to the size of our instance we are often the first ones to be targeted. And on the other hand we also have a big admin team so we also quickly notice when something is going on. So we hope that making this information available through Fediseer will help keeping instances and their communities protected and turn a negative into something good.

Greetings, The Lemmy World team

Alternative UI: Photon (photon.lemmy.world)
submitted 2 years ago* (last edited 2 years ago) by [email protected] to c/[email protected]

We added an extra UI for our users. Photon by Xylight is an interface with a sleek, modern look and has all the bells and whistles you would need. Moderator tools included! You can access the UI from https://photon.lemmy.world.

Visit Photon's project page on github or get in touch with the developer in the [email protected] community. If you want to use photon on other instances you can do so from https://phtn.app.

Update: @Xylight has set up a donation link so if you like photon as much as I do, show him some love! https://www.buymeacoffee.com/xylight

We've launced a public discord server at https://discord.gg/lemmyworld

The reason for why we choose discord is because it was easier to moderate and manage than other options. Besides we also had a discord-bot guru by the name of Rooki who created a neat bot that allowed us to connect/verify discord users to their Lemmy World account.

So if you are a moderator and you are looking for some extra hands to moderate your community, or if you need to contact anyone from the LW team, this is the most efficient way to do it!

Come have a look!

We just added Alexandrite to the server, it's an alternative desktop UI for Lemmy created by Sheodox who worked tirelessly to make the necessary changes to we could host it ourselves here. So go to https://a.lemmy.world and have a look!

He continues to update it constantly, you can follow the development on his github page or in his community. If you like what you see and want to support him, why not buy him a coffee? :)

For those who don't have Lemmy World as their home instance and want to use Alexandrite, either ask your instance admins to add it or go to https://alexandrite.app!

Edit: I should probably have mentioned that Alexandrite is meant for desktop!

The lemmy.world instance was just updated to version 0.18.2. The login issues that were being reported (for example, here) are now resolved.

For release notes: https://lemmy.world/post/1339018

Edit for those who still have issues logging in:

  • When using a browser: clear cookies and cache
  • When using an app: remove your lemmy.world account and add it again.
