YES, indeed @Senor Mono You are right. That's what's making a good app... good :-) A simple stupid Graphic User Interface. The fact that we are here on Lemmy means (most likely) that we are some kind of "nerds", because Average Joe will not come here, unless he/she can use an app without hassle and is able to discover the Lemmy communities with even 10 brain cells (or less). I know, I'm making a parody of it, but in fact that's exactely why apps like Insta, FB, etc are so popular. To end with a "free version" of Trump's words... even the uneducated must be able to use it without tariff barriers, LOL. Conclusion to be plain and simple: In my opinion (feel free to disagree)...We need to rethink the GUI of Lemmy and everything will be fine.

the app on my iphone is working very very good. I hope it will work as smooth on my Fairphone 5 too (when I buy the e/OS Murena version in June :-)

I just need an app to: scan the barcode of a product and he returns me EU or NOT EU. That's it.

it's BUYcott app. There is an app in the iOS app store (also in Google store) where you can scan products to see what the origin is. They also have a website: www.buycott.com It's a paid app. I went to their website to see what it's all about, but ... I don't know. It's an American thing. They have a project called "Boycot Trump products", but I still have my doubts about it.

We'll see. I believe in the blockchain technology, but not in the way it is used as today. IMO it's like the early days of the internet. Only for the nerds, until they started to build RWA. But again... we'll see.

You're right, but they are working on it. You cannot build an alternative for VISA/Mastercard just in one day. Step-by-step we'll get there. Every country has his own system, every bank has his own system. The only thing they have in common is VISA/Mastercard. It will take a few years, but the US has started something that is not gonna stop very soon. April 2, 2025 is the day that Europe started to disconnect from US dominance.

I just learned that Eutelsat is also (still) working for Russian TV stations to stream/broadcast their programs. Do you think it's a good idea to work with an European company who has no moral compass and says it's OK with Putin?

[–] [email protected] 1 points 2 weeks ago

Ooooh F*. I just bought stocks of Eutelsat a few weeks ago. Didn't knew they were working for RUS too.

WERO is coming all over Europe. Germany, France and Belgium are already connected and this year also in the Netherlands. It's happening but ofcourse.... much too slow for many of us :-) www.wero-wallet.eu If they realy want to be innovative they should use blockchain technology to make it happen.

IMO it's mind blowing to see how many Europeans are now discovering alternative EU or OpenSource solutions for IT services that were imbedded in our lives for so many years. Linux is booming, Proton.me is one of the biggest competitors for the Google eco-system, alternative browsers like Vivaldi are sky rocketing, Signal, BlueSky, Mastodon and Substack. I had never heard of that 1 year ago and now I have no more Facebook, Instagram or Whatsapp. Also many... many european businesses are moving their cloud drives to EU cloud services. This is only the beginning.
