Hi, I’m a single mom of two little kids, and I’m writing this with a heart full of fear, but also a small flicker of hope.
I recently left a very painful and abusive relationship. I walked away with my children and nothing else — no home, no savings, no support. I’m trying to find a roof over our heads, a small, quiet place where my kids can finally feel safe.
Every landlord I’ve contacted asks for two months’ rent in advance — around $600–$700 each — and I simply can’t afford it. The total I need to even get keys to a place is around $2,000. Without it, we have nowhere to go. My children ask me where we’ll sleep next week, and I don’t have an answer.
I used to work doing nails and lashes, and I’m trying to rebuild. But I lost all my supplies and can’t even start earning without tools.
