I played this game so damn much. When I was I kid a bought a Dreamcast just for this game, and only had this game for a long time. I bought a VGA adapter for this game too, looked much better.
I also played the PC versions a lot (Blue Burst, and the one before it).
I bought a keyboard for PSO but probably spent more time in the online lobby than playing the game.
The keyboard was essential, I did get one for my Dreamcast. But the keyboard-less chat system was actually really good. And symbol chat was fucking amazing, I wish Sega would make a keyboard app for Android based on that, it can just send as image files like Gboard does when sending combined emojis.
I spent a lot of time creating those symbol chat things too.
