You know it’s hot when your Indian colleague is complaining about the weather.

I’ve turned the aircon on, not because of temperature but because of the humidity. The brief rain made it worse.

And heeere comes the rain! Yippee!

Amazing lightening storm happening to the north atm

I'm starting to think my house plants are ramping up the humidity in this joint. Did a bit of mucking around in the kitchen and organised the spices but there's still a way to go with pantry items. Can't think of a logical layout. Forgot to get little step ladder as I'll absolutely need that in this place.

For now though, I'm calling it a night, been breathing shallowly for some reason and yawning hugely/feeling light-headed the past hour. I've pulled 9.5 hours yesterday and 9 hours today at work to make up for last week, excluding 30 mins lunch; still need an extra 30 minutes tomorrow. And then so much uni work on Thursday. zzzzz....

I hope you get some good rest! Totally don't have to share if you don't want to, but what are you studying?

Lightning show due north of the city - heading due south according to windy.com. No rain as yet, and no thunder audible. Aaaaand it's fizzled out. Again. I'm disappointed.

I'm hoping that big system approaching Swan Hill might hit us tomorrow to wash things out a bit more... looks like it might hit us overnight

Tomorrow is supposed to be pretty stormy. Dunno. If I lug a brolly to work tomorrow, I'll bet it doesn't rain. If I leave it at home ....

First world problem #475358: seems not all microfibre cloths are created equal. I bought some new ones but they are hydrophobic and not very good at picking up dirt. Annoying. Lesson learnt, I’ll be having a feel of them in the shops before buying new ones to see if I can find ones with similar texture to my older set.

I find the ones sold for cleaning motor vehicles and the like are pretty tough and stand a lot of wear. Bigger too. Bunnings have packets of 10 or so fairly cheaply. I avoid the ones marketed for 'kitchen' use.

100% they are definitely not all equal. Very frustrating.

Today was a pretty cruisy day. We had to go get new wheels, and then decided to head to the National Railway Museum in Port Adelaide. It was alright, but last year they stopped allowing people to enter the locomotives and carriages because apparently people were stealing shit and vandalizing everything. I get their decision, but that kind of took about 80% of the gun out. It was basically just walking alongside old locos with a bunch of barriers besides them with the occasional plaque about the history of it. Also wasn't really national, state at best

They also had a little miniature railway. It was rideable, but a little freaky. It's intended to young'n's, and while age wise, I qualify as a I youn'n (or so I'm told), I absolutely do not have either the height nor stature of a young'n. Damn thing almost tipped over when I got in πŸ˜‚

Then we went to Okami for all you can eat Japanese food. I love Okami (hence why I'm probably capable of tipping miniature railways over), and came back for what was meant to be an early night but is rapidly becoming a late one (due for another 4am start tomorrow. Not sure why I do this to myself tbh)

Also got some cute postcards I'm gonna write up and post out tomorrow

I still can't believe you guys drove all those KMs with the space saving tyre.

Don't forget to write the DT a postcard tomorrow :D

[–] [email protected] 3 points 7 hours ago (1 children)

We burst our tyre at approximately -38.141239, 142.221047, so going along our route did at least 650km on the space saver

(Plus ten mins drive today to get to the junkyard)

Okami and Trains - now that is a good day.

[–] [email protected] 10 points 9 hours ago

Well damn. Roofer is coming tomorrow but I can’t be home so have to let the LL in handle it.

Burnt all my days that I can take off for the year and wasn’t prepared to take leave without pay.

Less than ideal situation but got to do it.

I am not an ogre and so I would prefer not to live in a swamp please.

[–] [email protected] 5 points 9 hours ago

πŸ€” I've been looking at houses in Williamstown and swamp is exactly what came to mind

there are huge flood plains around there
