A "Showerthought" is a simple term used to describe the thoughts that pop into your head while you're doing everyday things like taking a shower, driving, or just daydreaming. A showerthought should offer a unique perspective on an ordinary part of life.

No. Military service in place of prison isn't elective, you still need the state to allow it. Even then you would be completely free, you likely wouldn't get leave for a while, and a discharge could put you into prison.

If you mean the French Foreign Legion, they don’t forgive crimes, but they will allow you to join with minor crimes.

Iirc you can give a nom de guerre and they don’t ask questions, but if you want to move past a certain rank, you have to normalize relations and any open criminal cases with your original country of citizenship (though I’m sure there are exceptions, like if you’re an Afghan national and, you know, don’t want to be executed by the Taliban).

What do you mean in your second sentence?

They're asking if you could assassinate someone and avoid prison by joining the military.

I needed this. The wording was obtuse.

Rules act differently for rich people and politicians.
