Summary

A video encouraging women to vote independently for Kamala Harris sparked outrage among conservative men, who called it divisive and “amoral.” The video highlights the gender gap that has widened between Harris and Trump, with recent polls showing notable leads by Harris among women and Trump among men.

Critics like Charlie Kirk labeled it “nauseating,” criticizing the wife for lying to “her sweet husband who probably works his tail off to make sure that she can go and have a nice life and provides for the family.”

Supporters argue it reflects real tensions around women’s autonomy, especially in conservative households.

I thought voting is done in secret.. if they rage about that simple topic, you gotta know who not to vote

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 week ago

I know who my wife is voting for, but even if she voted differently, I would love her the same. It would hurt if she lied about it though, because it would imply a lack of trust.

It was a goofy thing to do, that probably made it harder for all the women out there in relationships like this. Every woman knew she could do this, but now because Jimbo saw this ad, he's that much more likely to beat the shit out of her to get her to confess how she voted because she smiled wrong when she walked away from the booth.

I think it was a bad move.

Nah bro. It sparked more women to think for themselves and vote for Kamala

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago)

Of course, how could I be so dense? Women can't think for themselves unless a commercial tells them to do it.

Suddenly, Republicans become a fan of mail in ballots, so they can "audit" their families votes...

[–] [email protected] 3 points 1 week ago

I think they only want mail-in ballots for straight, white males. I have a feeling they would not be okay with mail-in ballots for people who aren't straight, or aren't white, or aren't male.

[–] [email protected] 9 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago) (1 children)

Remember, if your ~~husband~~ spouse does this, you can always cancel your mail-in ballot and cast a provisional ballot in person.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Unfortunately, at least here, that could still backfire, as the voting record indicates whether you voted in person or mail in, so they would know you voted in a different way than expected.

"Must have been libural cheating honey, IDK"

Hopefully by the time they figure it out, you've managed to extract yourself from the situation.

[–] [email protected] 7 points 1 week ago

Even more reason for these women to independently vote for Kamala Harris. F Jimbo.

Critics like Charlie Kirk labeled it “nauseating,” criticizing the wife for lying to “her sweet husband who probably works his tail off to make sure that she can go and have a nice life and provides for the family.”

And just why does she have to lie about it to her "sweet" husband?...

[–] [email protected] 4 points 1 week ago

My wife would beat the shit out of me if I didn’t vote for Kamala, and I’d deserve it, and enjoy it.

[–] [email protected] 5 points 1 week ago

probably works his tail off to make sure that she can go and have a nice life

Yeah, she probably sits on her ass all day anyway. The kids raise themselves! The audacity of these women to have been born with an ungrateful vagina smh

More like rotten

Are there really that many people lonely enough to put up with being married to a Trump supporter when they don't also drink that trad wife koolaid?

[–] [email protected] 36 points 1 week ago

So it is "amoral" to tell women that they can make their own decisions. Thanks for clearing that up, Newt.

[–] [email protected] 6 points 1 week ago

they cannot say they did not see it coming after the loud royal fucking theyve been crowing about for so long

[–] [email protected] 32 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago) (2 children)

I can't imagine (as a unmarried guy) living in a marriage where my wife would be afraid to tell me who she voted for. Even if she votes Trump, she's my spouse, and that comes way before that. She should chew me out if I make her feel afraid.

...It makes me feel shame for the culture some men are raised in.

[–] [email protected] 8 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago) (1 children)

I’d you’re married to someone who has opposite political views than you , your marriage probably has a lot of issues and voting secrecy is way down on the list. You don’t need to be perfectly aligned but mostly.

[–] [email protected] 7 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Depends upon how extreme the differences are. Arnold Schwarzenegger - who's a moderate Republican (thankfully supporting Harris) - was married to Maria Shriver from the infamously Democrat-heavy Kennedy family for well over a quarter century. Bill Clinton's (in)famous campaign adviser, James Carville, had been married to a well known Republican counterpart (Mary Matalin) since the early '90s.

I remember my parents civilly disagreeing about H.W. vs. Dukakis, and later H.W. vs. Clinton. There was never a problem there, just a civil discussion and a difference of opinion. But if either of them was a MAGAt, I think they would be spending their last decade or two apart, and they'd be better off that way too. Shit has been on a while different level the last 10 years, at least.

[–] [email protected] 13 points 1 week ago

I don't know. If my wife voted for Trump she knows I'd leave her, so I can imagine she wouldn't tell me if she did. Not to mention she'd have to have been lying about her entire personality the whole time we knew eachother XD.

At this course, the US Taleban is about to meet the handmaid's tale...

[–] [email protected] 56 points 1 week ago (3 children)

I'm willing to take bets that sometime in the Future there will be a call from Republicans for a new law that allows husbands to see how their wives have voted.

To protect Family values.... And to stop disharmony in the marriage.....

And, of course, to prevent voter fraud.......

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 week ago

They'll pass laws that will give men an extra vote for each child they have (because they are "more invested in the future") and while we're at it let's allow them to vote for the entire family to cut down on voting lines.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 week ago

Gotta stop voter fraud, by letting those who commit election interference and believe the system is compromised to control it. No way that could go wrong.

[–] [email protected] 23 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago) (1 children)

If the Conservatives had their way, women would not be allowed to vote at all. Unfortunately, that still seems to be one of their goals. I mean, Trump and his henchmen have already made sure that women are no longer allowed to control their own bodies, which I have to admit I thought was impossible in a Western country. What makes you think they're going to leave it at taking away women's right to a secret ballot? These people want to reverse advances in civilization like women's right to vote all together. That's what conservative means to them: back to the Middle Ages. In this sense, they are little different from other religious extremists such as the Taliban. Their goals might be a little different but their means are pretty much the same.

[–] [email protected] 16 points 1 week ago

If conservatives had their way, men would vote on behalf of their wives and unmarried adult daughters.

[–] [email protected] 23 points 1 week ago

In a functioning democracy, a vote should be secret by default, and that should be the social expectation. If you wanna tell people, sure, but not in a way where your actual vote can be proven.
