I got a switch from a friend awhile ago and didn’t use it much but recently I put 100+ hours in Stardew Valley on that thing.

I play all types of games from racing to shooters, sims to casual. Lately I’m especially drawn to games like Stardew because I hate dealing with boys/men online. No pressure, no hate. Maybe I’m just getting old.

I’m a guy and I hate dealing with boys/men in online games too. I love Stardew Valley as well! The game got me interested in real life gardening as a hobby!

That’s interesting! I love that in transitioned into something tangible. I tried to get some house plants but I keep forgetting to water them.

You're not getting old. The hate is real.

I've put countless hours into Rainbow 6 Siege, Escape from Tarkov, League of Legends, CoD Warzone, all back when my guy friends were still interested in these games. I loved these games to death, but some of the most vile shit ever said to me were said when I played alone.

When my friends and I moved on to other games, I wanted to play these on my own and just couldn't. Without them, I had to mute myself or get graphic rape and death threats. I went with it for a while and thought I could tough it out, but I couldn't. These days I just soloqueue league on a new account without a feminine name.

But yeah, I agree it's a breath of fresh air to play games without the hate.

Online gaming is a cesspit that everyone should either avoid or play with everyone perma-muted

Did it go from 23.5% to 47%?

It's the total number of Switch players, not the female to male ratio.

Total number of Switch players have tripled in last 5 years.

Total number of Female Switch players doubled in last 5 years.

Find out how total number of Male Switch players have changed in last 5 years

I feel like that’s a non-news then. I bet the same can be said for ps5 and every other console where the overall sales more than doubled in 5-year span. What IS news though is that 47% of switch players are female, I wonder how that compares to other consoles.

I bought a Switch before I got married. A few years later Animal Crossing was released and my wife got into it. At some point she slipped and asked if I could bring her “her” Switch, which we still tease her about to this day. The good thing was playing and using the controller got her used to controllers in general. I eventually learned she’d been playing Overcooked using the buttons and stick on the same side of the controller, playing with one hand. She’s much better now! Nowadays the kiddo uses it the most playing Zelda. I really haven’t used it much myself lately.

It was the first console my sibling ever bought, so very popular amongst beings.

The ladies do love Splatoon 3.

Prob related more to animal crossing tbh. Every woman I know who has a switch loves that game.

Yeah during lockdown I spent a lot of time visiting my sister's village when she was living on the other side of the world in Australia

In fairness, me staying up for the midnight launch and then binging AC:NH whenever we had a chance got my partner to buy a switch and copy of the game.

Then being locked down for COVID and she ended up with more hours in the game than me.

BUT when Happy Island DLC came out, I was the only one who bought it and such.
