I left this series because it became a buggy mess. I added "stop making a buggy mess" anywhere I could. I'm not holding my breath, but I would love to get back into playing Civ again.
I guess there's always Civ II, though. It's quite stable, now, and runs everywhere.
Same. I've played all the Civs. But I feel like the same issues with something like the Sims is creeping into the Civ franchise. The game has more features but somehow is less fun. I got into Humankind a little while ago and had loads of fun with that.

Done! I told them this is the first Civ game in a long time that I have no interest in picking up at launch, because of Denuvo and that the price is wildly unreasonable. Nearly $170 Canadian for the full edition!
I didn't even know the launch price but when they asked what would make the game a must-buy that there would be no way I would buy the game on launch and would wait 5+ years to buy a complete edition for a reasonable price.
This is actually the first I've heard of Denuvo, but if Wikipedia's page on it is any indication, it sounds pretty awful! Anyway, I've checked the dealbreaker box on the survey.
Denuvo is pretty terrible. I refunded the Scott Pilgrim game because of issues with Denuvo. (crashing and frame drops) I pirated the game instead and then had no issues. It harms paying customers more than pirates which is crazy.
That's pretty sad when you have to pirate a game just to make it playable. I probably shouldn't admit to having cracked games in the past for this reason. Yarrr!
Make sure you check mods as being important. Support for mods is critical for any long-term enjoyment of a game.

This is back to the thing where a AAA game studio ignores what they know about their audience and apologizes to investors later.
I hope that's not what's happening here, but I won't hold my breath.
This could be intended to settle a disagreement between management people who don't see the trend of gamers finally getting fed up with the bullshit and others who don't call the shots but do have a finger on the pulse (or even feel that way themselves and know they aren't alone).
I'd bet good money there's plenty of developers and other gamers involved with a bunch of these companies watching decisions being made with horror.
Actually I bet management only allowed this to be a poll because they did notice the trend of gamers getting fed up and previous cash cows running dry, but they needed a poll because they don't want to believe that the thing they thought was the best way to fight piracy was hated by people who would otherwise be happy to spend money on it.
I always keep thinking back to a piece of software that took weeks to get running at a job where we were development partners and then when I decided I wanted to use it with a personal project at home, I had a pirated copy running within hours. All the DRM stuff just made it into a pain for legit users while those using pirated copies never even saw that after it was cracked.
And denuvo doesn't even stop sucking once you get it running the first time, it will be wasting CPU cycles and memory bandwidth until the publisher decides it's not worth paying the license fee for anymore.
