And poisoning the watershed?
If you want to use the nutrients safely, you can. But you have to collect it and compost it for a year or more (depending on climate).
Only then is it safe to use as fertilizer.
I was curious about this, did some reading - not only is it true but the effects are farther reaching than that.

We have these natural lawn mowers as well and some like to come up when we take a walk in our village, they like to get some scratching behind the ears. Very oily animals though.
