Mildly Interesting

This is for strictly mildly interesting material. If it's too interesting, it doesn't belong. If it's not interesting, it doesn't belong.

This is obviously an objective criteria, so the mods are always right. Or maybe mildly right? Ahh.. what do we know?

Just post some stuff and don't spam.

And even further, only those exact same two seats are ‘taken’ for every single showing.

I thought for sure the after church showings tomorrow would be at least somewhat full, but nope.

Totally sold out. The most sold out movie ever. You remember Titan-ick? Had a naked girl in it and it didn't sell as many tickets as this movie. People are saying this is the best movie there is. People are watching it 4 or 5 times and saying how good it is. I haven't seen it. Maybe I'll see it. Deenish de-sooza did the movie. She's hot, have you seen her? Smokin hot. They wanted me to be in it. Was I I in it? Sure, maybe. Great movie. The best.

My guess might be that much of the audience buys a ticket when they show up. I know that's probably what I would do. Especially if I saw ahead of time that I can choose any seat.

[–] [email protected] 6 points 2 months ago (1 children)

I think you still have to buy a specific seat if you buy at the theater otherwise it would break the system if anyone did buy an assigned seat after you.

I just checked the 9pm showing and it’s still showing an empty theater 3 min before start.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 2 months ago (2 children)

Ha. Guess theaters really are dying. Or nobody wants to see that particular film lol.

[–] [email protected] 5 points 2 months ago

Our town only has two theaters and only this one has assigned seats. It’s only showing this, that Reagan movie and Beetlejuice. I couldn’t find any seats that had been sold…

However my wife and I went to see Deadpool a week or two ago and the theater was as full as I’ve seen a theater since Covid.

Not sure what my point is?

But, ‘Yes!’ Also ‘No!’…

In conclusion, ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

[–] [email protected] 1 points 2 months ago

For some comparison, wife and I went to a Tuesday noonish showing of Beetlejuice Beetlejuice and there were more than 8 people. So, at a time slot that would be totally understandable to have 1-2 people at a showing, there were way more than for this waste of digital space.

With this movie, Am I Racist?, and Reagan all playing at the same time, the GOP is really going full-throttle in attempting to exploit their base.

[–] [email protected] 8 points 2 months ago (3 children)

Looking at this graphic, is it still illegal to yell "fire" in a theater like that, or can we record ourselves doing so in those empty rooms for fuckyou lols? 🤷🏽‍♂️

That's not showing in my blue city, but another movie "Am I Racist?" is showing (or not? Maybe they don't hit play if the theater is empty).

It seems to be about a racist guy who takes on a disguise so nobody recognizes him as the racist guy and pretends to be a mentally ill progressive or something and interviews people

It's been so long since I've been to the movies that I didn't even realize that theatres now have assigned seats.

[–] [email protected] 5 points 2 months ago (5 children)

Many have upgraded to extra comfy recliners, some with pairs of seats you can raise the center arm rest and get cozy. With less than half the seats that they used to have, it's far more comfortable.

Here's the nearest theater to me smack-dab in the middle of the reddest metroplex in the country.

[–] [email protected] 6 points 2 months ago

Ugh, Westminster, CO. Most showings in the Denver area are at least half full. But most theaters aren't showing it at all.

[–] [email protected] 11 points 2 months ago* (last edited 2 months ago) (1 children)

Solid red area of TN! Empty with two hours to go!

[–] [email protected] 1 points 2 months ago

I'm sure you and everyone else understand, attendance isn't proof of anything beyond box office numbers. Many theaters are empty that's how they know to show something new.

[–] [email protected] 14 points 2 months ago* (last edited 2 months ago)

Every theater has about 2 seats blocked off because they squeak too much and have been complained about. I'm blown away at the amount of religious content at theaters. There is tons. Some of it is basically like going to evangelical church. They're not movies they're sermons in theaters.

This one is made by a D'Souza, the same name behind that movie about ballot boxes being stuffed in 2020. It's nonsense.

[–] [email protected] 6 points 2 months ago

Apparently it is set in the same cinematic universe as Surviving R. Kelly.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 2 months ago (1 children)

Blockbuster material if you ask me.

If both seats are taken for all showings, probably they are broken and locked off.

[–] [email protected] 18 points 2 months ago

Could also be like the starter bills in a tip jar, encouraging people to book now.

Well I've seen enough to know it's not even worth a hate watch:

I'd never heard that name before. I looked it up. I feel like I'm dumber for having done so.

See your doctor if the condition persists for more than two hours.

I think this guy wanted to be the Michael Moore of whatever side he represents, but he's not talented.

[–] [email protected] 21 points 2 months ago

And he usually ends sentences with an upward inflection? On top of a horrendous voice it just makes it more annoying?

Lmao in a city with ~300k, not much better lol

[–] [email protected] 1 points 2 months ago

I can't even find showings in my state.

[–] [email protected] 47 points 2 months ago (4 children)

I got curious. This showing is in about 90 minutes, in one of the reddest counties in the country.

There is another show tonight that has about 10 tickets sold.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 2 months ago

This looks like Megaplex. You also in Utah, my friend?

[–] [email protected] 34 points 2 months ago* (last edited 2 months ago) (1 children)

One of the reddest places in a major Texas metropolis, on a Saturday evening, an hour before the showing:

Just two bros chilling in the movie theater, 5 seats apart because they're not gay!

[–] [email protected] 10 points 2 months ago

"Kevin, how did you meet your husband?"

"Well, it's a funny story, but we meet at this dumb Trump movie in NC..."

[–] [email protected] 28 points 2 months ago (1 children)

Are those seats blocked cause they're defective?

[–] [email protected] 8 points 2 months ago

Yeah, usually shows for a broken seat.

[–] [email protected] 148 points 2 months ago (3 children)

It kind of makes sense. People who love Trump don't exactly have the patience to watch a documentary to begin with.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 2 months ago (2 children)

Ha, hahaha, oh shit that's a good point

Idk, you ever wonder who bought/read all those Killing x books that Bill O Reilly wrote?

Why watch a movie, when you could get a random screed from the source himself at 3AM, which you can read in about 30sec?

[–] [email protected] 13 points 2 months ago (1 children)

which you can read in about 30sec?

Only if you're not a Trump supporter.

Sorry, I forgot that you gotta know all the secret cyphers to decode his supergenius messages about how the storm is coming or how he has a secret moon base where there's only the whitest people.

To be clear:
The ‘x’ seats are ‘taken’
The 🟦 seats are ‘available’

ETA As many have pointed out, since these same two seats are blocked for every showing, I believe it’s because they’re broken; not sold.

[–] [email protected] 79 points 2 months ago (3 children)

I assumed it meant the seat was out of service because its broken

[–] [email protected] 31 points 2 months ago

Only the person in it...
