Didn't even click to read the satire.

As much as I hate the guy it was marketing genius to do the fist pump immediately.

Same as his mug shot (although he probably practiced that one for hours in a mirror).

Many of his core followers are only semi-literate. They respond to iconic imagery.

he didn't do the fist pump immediately.

it was like 10 minutes later, you fell for the propaganda.

I see now that the photo is from the golf course not the speech. That he posed for that one shows once again how media savvy he is.

The first assassination attempt created the iconic image. That happened only 80 seconds after the shooting, ie as soon as security let him stand up. Here is the uncut footage.

Damnit I ate the onion 😔. I have brought great shame to my family

No shame in 2024. Onion and real world are 100% blur now.

Almost as if he was waiting for his next photo op...what a stupid tool

Edit: I'm a tool and didn't realize I was reading the onion I'm a stupid tool in this case...

Like, from just reading the headline, it doesn't seem very onion-y. It's not just perfectly believable, but I sort of assumed that that is what happened.

Totally in character and would align with "staged"

It's ok, i also ate the onion at least once...

With news about Trump, it is also an extra deceiving onion.

Nope.. sick with COVID and didn't realize I was in the onion land I still think it's a tool but I shouldn't respond to onion articles that makes me a tool..

[–] [email protected] 5 points 1 month ago

I fully believed it before I read the source. It sounds exactly like something he would do.

It's okay bro, easy mistake to make. The fat orange guy is a walking onion article no matter what he does.

Frankly it's amazing that The Onion didn't go under in the last decade as reality became stranger than their headlines

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 month ago (1 children)

It did go under. Global Tetrahedron owns it now😔

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 month ago

Oh shit I didn’t know that. I stand corrected

That’s some cruel irony being put out of business by reality.

I’m glad they’re back with apparently more sass than usual, but Jfc that’s just lol

In 2024 it's never been easier to eat the onion.

I'm not sure if that's the right gesture when you're constantly agitating against socialists:

socialist propaganda poster

[–] [email protected] 6 points 1 month ago

We're the Mario Brothers....

[–] [email protected] 13 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Yes, common knowledge dictates that only socialists raise their fists, ever, because they invented the gesture

[–] [email protected] 0 points 1 month ago (1 children)

The guy is a politician. Unfortunately, for obvious reasons, he cannot show the gesture of his own political camp. So he will have to make do with this symbolic loan. But it fits in quite well with his election campaign, especially as he strangely portrays his opponents as fascists.

I am pretty sure a raised fist predates government or even agriculture, but sure, let's work with very limited understandings of what things can mean. Donald Trump is a horrible monster, but I don't really see what good limiting what he does with his hands does for anyone.

I saw him spewing garbage on tv at the gym a few months ago; no audio, luckily, but they always have a tv showing fox news, and it was right in my line of sight. The ridiculous shit he was constantly doing with his hands had me cracking up. It was so over-the-top, to the point of parody. I couldn't stop laughing at the idea that anyone takes the chucklefuck seriously, just based on his moronic gesticulation schtick.

So yeah, let him keep doing insanely stupid shit with his hands.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 month ago

I agree! It's super distracting, the things he does with his hands. The accordion bit someone did a few years ago was perfect. Because wtf else require hand gestures like that?
