I don't follow drivers much, I'm more of a team kind of guy. But, I half way believe him. Max is a quirky guy with his father's temper and this is not the first time he has expressed a "Fuck F1" attitude. I note that the rest of the drivers have set a secret meeting to see what they can do to support him. Get out the popcorn, because I don't see a way out of a confrontation between the FIA and the drivers.

Yeah he has said several times before that he already has achieved his dream by winning the championship. Heβs mostly still in F1 for fun. And he also said before that he wants to win WEC. So itβs definitely not a empty threat.
That's true. Although it's probably worth noting that both Alonso and Hamilton also said they wouldn't be in F1 long, yet here we are.
The FIA sanctions the WEC too, so I don't know how that would work out under this particular circumstance.
A WEC team has three drivers. He could probably negotiate a contract where he never has to speak in front of the press.
Ha! I guess that's possible. But, it's more probable that he just takes a year sabbatical
A sabbatical where he keeps racing probably. There are championships that arenβt directly governed by the FIA. Like IndyCar or Super Formula.
It does indeed not look like he's going to let this go
Why should any of them? The FIA is treating grown men, who are also millionaires, like children.
I agree
