From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Linux is a family of open source Unix-like operating systems based on the Linux kernel, an operating system kernel first released on September 17, 1991 by Linus Torvalds. Linux is typically packaged in a Linux distribution (or distro for short).

Distributions include the Linux kernel and supporting system software and libraries, many of which are provided by the GNU Project. Many Linux distributions use the word "Linux" in their name, but the Free Software Foundation uses the name GNU/Linux to emphasize the importance of GNU software, causing some controversy.

My apologies, this data is misleading. Most of the new traffic is actually just me mass downloading and data hoarding porn across thousands of VMs. Whenever I need to rub one out I ssh into one of them and watch it that way. Keeps it off my main machine and keeps my browser history clean.

So, Linux doesn't have a general icon and ChromeOS's icon isn't used, what could be an ideal icon/logo for the Linux Kernel, I wonder?

WhatsApp recently pulled support for some older iOS versions and devices, a lot of ppl threw them away and got Androids instead(as they should), I wonder if that's related to iOS's decrease.

Android devices dominate in a lot of countries, especially Asian countries, where our growth in those regions in the last few years has boosted Android’s user base.

I think the decrease is mostly due to this.

Some sort of arctic animal I would assume.

Tux. They could've just used Tux.

Gen Z, Vertical Video.

They're nothing, if not, efficient. Bravo.

Who is using chromeos for that?

[–] [email protected] 13 points 1 week ago

Kids whose schools set up their chrome books inadequately and who found a way around the strict controls to watch porn.

This is the monkey's paw Year of the Linux desktop. I know we're wankers but didn't need reminding!

My guess is the increase is due to two factors: Linux based vms scraping PH content to create tensor training models for nsfw AI image generators and individuals in the U.S. visiting behind a vpn that’s registering to the client as a Linux device. I’d visit the link but I’m not behind a vpn.

Or, and hear me out, what if they actually have good engineers and know how to sanitise their analytics? And at the risk of sounding crazy, what if the reason that the Linux share is rising is because it’s genuinely becoming more popular?

Crazy talk, right?

I don't know why your browser would report itself as a linux browser just because it's behind a proxy or VPN

I wonder how much of this rise is caused by all of the recent state porn bans in the USA. Linux users are overall savvier and more likely able to circumvent the ban

I don't think you have to be all that fucking savvy to see an ad for ExpressVPN.

You haven't met the people I've had to give tech support to T_T
