Why are they comparing cost to lease? I guess does that include the lower maintenance cost of EVs somewhat?

Because some people prefer to lease, and Honda is offering special incentives to lease this particular EV.
Why are the offering those incentives? Because of lower servicing costs?
Because there's a leasing loophole for the EV tax credits for cars that aren't built in the USA
marketing. to drum up hype and sales with articles like this. the cast majority of sales or "special pricing" are just marketing.
