DiWHY (pronounced D-I-Why) is a community to share DIY (do-it-yourself) projects that leave you questioning the meaning of purpose and practicality. I really really want to see the inside.

I'm sure this is totally and completely safe. I'm just going to stay far away from it because... um... I think it's better to admire its beauty from far enough away that I can take in the entirety of it before a gigantic beautiful background of everything. Yeah that's it. No other reason.

This thing is one good panic stop away from not being able to see out the windshield.

Also highway speeds are just out of the question.

Don't bounce on the bed.

This is both impressive and terrifying. I love to hate it.

Really stretching the definition of “mom’s attic” with this one.

It's like every design from the Top Gear camper challenge had a baby

This is the guy you want when the zombies come. He is super handy with what is laying around. But til then this guy is dangerous.

I wonder if Chevy designed those to be load bearing quarter panels...

[–] [email protected] 0 points 2 months ago (1 children)

Really, anything can be load bearing. Question is for how long

This works until, and here me out... you have to work on the engine. You won't be able to get to half the block to do anything.

Well at least they’re using lag bolts when mounting to the now crumpled sheer pieces of metal designed to flex and give during accidents.

And so many nails for the wood that definitely wouldn’t come loose from the vibrations caused by the road and air turbulence.

[–] [email protected] 0 points 2 months ago

Those are the hardest working bolts in the country.

If we are optimistic this could just be a semi-mobile ghetto hunting cabin they have just stopped at the hardware store before taking this thing to its forever home.

[–] [email protected] 0 points 2 months ago (2 children)

Employed but homeless...so trying to live as best they can?

[–] [email protected] 0 points 2 months ago

Also possible but more depressing... not really optimistic.

[–] [email protected] 0 points 2 months ago

What do you mean homeless? That is a home.

I'd certainly hate to see the wind tunnel and FEA study on this.

[–] [email protected] 0 points 2 months ago

Nobody in their right mind would risk their wind tunnel with this. But it would be absolutely hilarious to watch

Careful, that thin plastic is load bearing.

[–] [email protected] 0 points 2 months ago

Just LOLed in the grocery store line.
