Outcome of the ultrasound with Sammi - no obvious tumours or obstruction. Enlarged lymph nodes in her stomach, so they want to proceed with the other ultrasound and take some samples. Meanwhile she's home alert and hungry.
In other news there was a three vehicle stack in the middle of Main Street Mordialloc on the way home. Hopefully it's cleared by now...

Random heavy rain in CBD just as I'm leaving work 😭

[–] [email protected] 3 points 2 months ago* (last edited 2 months ago)

More of a spray here (we got the heavy earlier) fortunately just as I dropped the papou home. And fortunately over by the time I picked up Sammi. Can't say the same for the wind, much to her chagrin.

Copped it here too. It was wild. It would go quiet for a sec, then a big gust of turbo wind would come and it accelerated them to about the speed of a bullet. One hit me on the neck. I thought it was hail or something, it fucking hurt!

So many bins were tipped over while I was coming home today. Looks like half of them had spilt their rubbish everywhere and still had rubbish bags inside. Tbf if I was a Garbo, I wouldn't be picking rubbish bins up in this weather either, but bin time on the street I drove down was this morning, so they're gonna have to deal with full bins for another week!

My bin night is Thursday night/Friday morning, hoping things settle down by then....

It's raining horizontally out west. The wind is something else too

Good Lord, this headache is so painful. Paracetamol doesn't touch it, waiting for my partner to come back with some ibuprofen.

Stupid motherfucking teeth grinding. My whole head is throbbing πŸ’€

[–] [email protected] 3 points 2 months ago (1 children)

If you can get to a chemist, try something called "maxigesic". Take 2, lay down and put your thumbs gently behind your neck

heat back can help. Can also hurt but if its throbbing maybe worth a try?

[–] [email protected] 7 points 2 months ago (1 children)

you can get ibuprofen + paracetamol tablets now, and paracetamol + caffeine.

guessing the migraine havers are in power now lol

[–] [email protected] 8 points 2 months ago* (last edited 2 months ago) (1 children)

TW suicideParacetamol doesn't really affect me, after I tried to off myself with it. I take one, if I have nothing else, but it's mostly for the placebo affect and I tend to avoid it anyway.

Ibuprofen has helped though!

[–] [email protected] 3 points 2 months ago

Fair enough, you should state what the trigger is for though, otherwise it's no warning!

[–] [email protected] 5 points 2 months ago

Ugh I'm so guilty of this too. I had a filling that hurt a little bit, and for some reason, whenever there's any pain in my teeth, my immediate subconscious instinct is to bite down on the teeth that are hurting

Hugs and hope the ibuprofen helps, and your head feels better soon. I ran out of Nurofen, and swallowable paracetamol, so I've been using the aldi "hedanol" recently, which starts dissolving as soon as it touches the sweat and oils in my hand 😐

... aaaand gone.

Update - there was a miscommunication and Sammi was booked for next Wednesday for her ultrasound. Fortunately they do have an in-house machine and one of the vets is very proficient in its use, so just waiting to hear the outcome of that.
Meanwhile took Zooks in later to see the senior vet as her ears have been rashy and he suggested (with Sammi) that it may have been gastro, and since she does like raw chicken... it's possible. Meanwhile I have to give Zooks eardrops for a week. Wish me luck...

[–] [email protected] 3 points 2 months ago

combine the drops with an ear massage and they'll beg for it

[–] [email protected] 2 points 2 months ago (1 children)

Good luck Ozzy. Hope they're both okay/recover soon

I've always wondered about the safety of feeding cats and dogs raw meat. I guess in the wild, they're hardly cooking it up before digging in, but it still feels like it could be a little risky

[–] [email protected] 2 points 2 months ago (1 children)

Generally they are much more resistant to any bacteria etc. than we are. It's important to get it from a decent supplier though, cross contamination etc. are more of a risk than the meat itself.

Mr Woof gets raw meat, but Miss Meow is not allowed because she is immune deficient.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 2 months ago (1 children)

I think cross contaminating other things that may eventually come into contact with us would be the other issue. I've seen lots of people let dogs lick their face and such. Personally, that grosses me out, but sometimes dogs do go wild and it may be unavoidable. Although you're probably copping a bit more than some leftover salmonella if you let your dog lick your face!
