I don't see the inconsistency. This is dripping with dog whistle racism. Whites don't get stopped by cops. Whites are the cops. The 2nd ammendment is for me not for thee

That statement is like a supercomputer ran LLMs and voter simulations for two weeks in order to find the one sentence most perfectly crafted to drive away the most American voters.
Edit to add: In reality yeah the gun taking and frisking are just a dog whistle for putting minorities back in their place, but I still thought the contrast was funny.
I doubt Trump's followers will think of this as a breach of their 2A rights. They will likely think that it's black people and bad actors who will have their guns taken for the safety of the boys in blue.
To talk about police as being honorable community service members and then Chicago in the same sentence is rather entertaining because that city has a very long history of dirty cops, and I think everyone knows it? That's kind of common knowledge.
It won't matter to Republicans, they'll even agree with it, because to them, they know he's talking about bad people, and by "bad people", he's of course referring to low-life black and latino thugs, people who really shouldn't be having guns (in their minds). OP and everyone in the comments are pretending he's talking about the 2nd amendment but he's just talking about good old fashioned racism.
Yeah, he's pretty clearly saying he wants police to selectively take guns from those they think are problem starters. Though it wouldn't surprise me if he wants that group to include categories his wannabe shooter would have fit in, which probably will end up including many people he relies on for support.
