It's hard work being that pretty.
Iβll never understand the adoration of politicians in America. The rallies, the banners, the concert style appearances, tshirts, celebrity endorsements. Can you imaging such a thing for Albo, Dutton or anyone in Aus? I greatly prefer our attitude - view them all with a healthy disdain and vote for the one you least dislike.
I think not having compulsory voting is part of it because they really have to put on a show to get you motivated to vote.
That's exactly it. If they had compulsory voting, their campaigns wouldn't be so unhinged, as they're trying to convince people to vote in the first place, let alone vote for them
This was mentioned in the book 'From secret ballot to democracy sausage'. Compulsory voting pulls politics towards the centre because you have to appeal to everyone.
Another outlier we have is preferential voting, whichgives smaller parties an opportunity to participate without eating into majorities.
And yeah, it strikes me as weird how they have those massive conventions over in the states, they're like Comicon for the worst and most boring people. And that people will say they don't like politics, then be ride or die for someone like Trump
I'm so tired. I'm so drained, been going through the wringer and feeling like too little butter spread over too much bread.
I can get through this, I know I have the strength, but I'm so tired I just want to sleep forever.
Same. Itβs really difficult
I think it's the weather and I'm not kidding.
We are being assailed by huge amounts of pollen and the temps and rainfall are so unpredictable. It's all tiring.
The economy and a prevailing negative zeitgeist does not help.
I am doing this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Aae_RHRptRg my little yard is full of orchids and beautiful perfumes, so many flower buds, chillies are growing and I can hear the blackbirds sing
Feeling exactly like this tonight. We got this but wow that overly tired feeling is just the worst.
I just want this period to end already, so I can focus on school π I need a therapist so I have someone to offload to without feeling like a fatty fat burden.
But do have this, we are awesome, you are awesome!! Sending you good vibes, tone. πππ
Had such a hyper productive day at work (and a quiet week) that I might have nothing to do tomorrow which is great timing for working on my assignment! (zero shame)
I've made a lot more headway into how I want to structure this and what the key readings are. Many thanks to an awesome and very supportive/responsive supervisor. I might have a breakthrough with getting my assignment extension too, thank fuck there are basically no more assignments aside from the thesis itself after this.
It has been a truly Kafkaesque experience. I have been reminded how not being trusted or believed really, really sets me off. Something to take note of
Nest refresh day lol
*I like the two ply
it makes me feel safe inside
Good luck with pooing*
Gibson - 2024
I love her. π
Miss Gibson loves the texture
Of softly embossed paper
She found her requisition
Way beneath her position
So she made her hominid a butler
Edit: not my best
Thatβs a clever use for old issues of the Werribee Weekly
Just once I would love to not have to run the gauntlet of drug addicts as I enter the supermarket.
I wish we could invent a meth vaccine. Take meth and nothing happens, no addiction. Meth seems especially bad for anti-social behaviours compared to other drugs.
Yeah apparently with heroin people were more sleepy and less aggressive. Both fairly destructive though.
What an intriguing concept. The cynic in me says they will probably turn to another drug eventually though.
I had one come up to me in the supermarket tonight and ask for money. I said I didn't have any cash. The next person he asked said, "nah the bank's got all mine!"
I would like to spread the word in that community that no-one carries cash anymore. So yelling at me demanding coins simply does not work. But I digress.
Why do supermarkets allow the loitering is another question. I certainly wouldn't want anything to put off my customers.
I'm not sure either, and I'm really conscious of it when I take my kids with me π³ It's like, I know you've got problems but don't. talk. to. my. kids when you're off your head mate, or we will have a problem.
I think they start playing classical or Telstra hold music by the entrance to discourage loitering.
