It's fucking hilarious to me that the USB consortium ever allowed Universal Serial Bus cables to be made without the serial part (data transfer)
USB-C anything requires a minimum of 2.0 which is how Micro should have always been.

You reminded me to fit some tape in my phone's MicroUSB port, so the cable actually sits in somewhat properly. edit: I fucked it up, but it's still better.
Fuck those things man
I have never upvoted something so hard.
I've used more usb gadgets than most people, as I deal with electronics a lot, but I never had a single problem with micro usb. Not sure why people hate it so much.
Microusb users: "I'm sorry, there was a slight breeze in my house and now my charger doesn't work."
So you're a practiced expert and cannot understand how those who are not practiced experts can have trouble?
Well I'm not sure it takes an expert to master a plug.
But I'd understand the hate if it was universal (pun maybe intended), but everyone that hates micro-usb seems to adore usb-c, while I feel like it's potentially much more fragile. When handling usb-c I always use a lot more delicate care than I ever did with micro-usb. Mostly because even though I'm pretty good at soldering very tiny things, I'm not confident I could replace most usb-c receptacles without messing it up.
Usb-C is way more robust. It's thicker, stronger, goes in both ways, has no moving parts. Micro USB is thin, flimsy, has stupid spring tabs that weaken pretty quickly and result in a cord that just falls out of your device when you pick it up while it's plugged in. Fuck micro USB.

Micro-usb enters the chat.
USB-C MOD ALL THE THINGS!
Hate with a passion
yea. great. now we have a plug that looks the same but has a million different kinds of standards. hooray
I have one very nice USB C made from the softest silicon rubber. It feels premium, never kinks and it is tough like nylon rope. It has max specs for USB C for power delivery and data transfer and it cost me $30.
All the others are freebies that came with various devices and are all disposable compared to my "one true cord" which is the only one to enjoy being apart of my personal arsenal of accoutrements
nice. and nice username
Yeah like what do you mean I can’t use this cable to charge my VR headset? It’s usb c? Oh but that one is somehow more powerful and the other is weakling with no marking whatsoever? Fuck off
I have one tiny white super powerful usb c cable and all the other are weaklings. Some refuse to transfer files
If I take one of those unmarked losers on a trip just grabbing some random usb c cable I will have a bad time
There shall be one cable to rule them all. I am the lord of the cables.
Yeet all the weak ones in the garbage
Electronics recycling.
And where to get new ones? I refuse to pay for a forking cable you know
Those things are basic human rights. The right to get usb cable for free. I have hundreds of them and if anything I want to exchange
Chargers same, if I see a charger on the street or anywhere I am looting that forking thing cause they don’t include these things anymore and put it into my drawer full of these things
Being unable to throw away old USB cords is my weakness.
I used to keep a long one in my car, and used it to walk my dog if I happened to forget his leash. Upcycling!
It didn't have to be this way
