Is the youtube app a glorified web app? i use revanced and I havent updated in 2 years but the design keeps changing, and its really starting to annoy me lol

I feel bad for folks that actually use the stock app. There are so many better alternatives to that garbage.

I just don't watch YouTube on my phone since losing YouTube vanced. What I liked about vanced was that I could be logged in. Do you have any personal recommendations for an alternative where I can still log in?

Thanks for the link. I had it in mind that it was all over for vanced and revanced. Glad to hear it's alive and well and even has its lemmy community!

Even without apps, disable YouTube and use it in a browser. No reason to even have an app.

It's so weird how Google is incredibly terrible at their own apps anymore. Apple makes their own apps (mostly) shine.

Changing things just for the sake of it.

The "innovation" side of needing endless growth. Endless changes for the sake of making changes.

Gotta justify having entire teams on standby, so they constantly mess with the UI then do some A/B testing then reverse their testing then call it a day.

Right? Why do anything. Who needs more than a terminal interface anyway.

Edit: I really don't understand what the sentiment here is. Any UI changes are somewhat arbitrary. I don't get why that's an issue.

Per your edit: because there are lots of more useful things to focus dev time on than making the bottom bar have a different background which doesn’t add anything to the user experience.
