God apple has turned from a revolutionary company to a blight on this earth

Apple has always been like this. People were complaining about their draconian control over their own platform over a decade ago.

I really hope EU slaps them with the proper fine that the last €1.84 billion one will look like pennies.

<...> but a restrictive new fee structure will force developers to pay Apple a commission for sales made across any platform, not just iOS, for as long as they include outside links.

Once a developer adds external links, Apple places a new “store services fee” on the sale of digital goods and services that occur within one year of the date the user installs the app — on any platform, even if the user never actually clicks the external link.

Tell me you are a cancer without telling me you are a cancer.

Wait, am I understanding this right that Amazon for example would need to give Apple a 20% cut for anything (digital) a customer buys through Amazon for a year? Same with Valve, etc?

If the purchase is available though any other service and the developer includes the external link in the app, then yes. It doesn't even matter if the external links are used to make the purchase, just for the privilege the fee will be applied. It won't apply to generic purchases that Apple in-app doesn't offer.
