man while I have some sympathies that MBFC is not the best. And their left right ratings are at best problematic.
I’ve blocked OOP here on my account and I don’t take blocking lightly. So I imagine they’ve said some pretty fucked up shit or are a troll.
I'm surprised he isn't banned yet. Is it just me or do I see a lot of Tankie shit on lemm.ee? Is it another lemmy.ml / lemmygrad / hexbear cesspool? I think lemmy.zip was another smaller one that had a lot of Tankie traffic. Or is that just a consequence of them somehow (?) not defederating from the Tankie instances?
Should have been way back. They're in Europe. Created the account after October 7th. Apologize for Hamas on a regular basis. Tell people in the US to vote 3rd party or not vote at all. But no matter what don't vote for Biden/Harris.
Obvious troll account is obvious. It's the same thing Russia did in 2016. Promoted Jill Stein as an alternative back then too. Is exactly what that account has been doing for months.

Like, I'm no Israel sympathizer, and think they are genociding the Palastinian people, but that claim is so deep rooted in antisemitism its idiotic
Lemmy.world and Lemm.ee both have what I consider to be an unacceptable number of authoritarian, both capitalist (fascist) and communist (tanky), on their servers and leave them up in the name of being enlightened centrists willing to hear anyone out. Sh.itjust.works used to be more Nazish, but I think they had a vote in their agora community at some point that's allowed their admins and mods to be more proactive than back when I had an account there.

I've been filing reports when someone's clearly over the line, but I've noticed a pattern with certain agitators who never fully cross the line in any single comment but toe the line in all of them, and in the aggregate pretty clearly are... gross
Interesting. I was going to say this might be because lemm.ee is the 2nd most active server? (3200 vs 2500 for sh.itjust.works https://fedidb.org/software/lemmy/), so maybe the ratio is similar, but they are just more because the total number of users is larger
I’ve noticed some dodgy tankie accounts on both lemm.ee and lemmy.world
I think it’s because the instances are lightly moderated and it is easy to make an account. So it attracts people who want to troll/bad intentions.
Beehaw defederated from world because of this
On world I've seen them in the news communities, but I pretty much blocked them all by now because of the unwillingness to moderate by all of them, specifically regarding disinformation. Though, the instance is too big for me to ban every community, like I do with lemmy.ml. At that point there would be not much activity left and it is already incredibly lowly populated.
I can appreciate Beehaw blocking the more extreme left instances though, even though they are pretty left leaning too.
I don't think Beehaw blocked .world out of any political motivation at all. They simply have a very strict vision of the atmosphere and style of interactions they want their users to have, and the combination of unrestricted sign-ups, lax moderation and lacking moderation tools in general made this vision impossible - hence defederation.
By that logic you'd have to defederate from basically anything because the moderation tools and sign-ups are about the same everywhere.
And that is indeed what Beehaw is doing, as far as I'm aware. Though curiously lemm.ee isn't on their block list (yet)^[1]
Though I think the latest word is that Beehaw is leaving Lemmy altogether in the future.
No, they block kinda specific based on certain factors, as outlined by the other person.
And yes, the lack of moderation controls is one of the big reasons why they want to leave.

I don’t think world is that bad, I used it for a long time until I switched here to Blahaj, but yeah a lot of the dodgy accounts tend to come from world and lemm.ee. Once you’ve got the tankie trifecta (hexbear, grad and ml) blocked.

Because the woke people mean is tankie woke and that can be boiled down to several key points: Russia and China dick sucking, Israel hate (wich is antisemitism) inability to hear different opinions without getting a mental breakdown, everything not woke being "nazi" and so on. That's the point where society is currently.

That's nither what i said nor what i meant, criticism of Netanjahu is absolutely legit, but starting free Palestinia protests a day after 7. October is antisemitism. I didn't say that Israel didn't do anything wrong, i just said that many woke spectrum people believe that Israel has no right to defend itself and that these people come with arguments like "Palestine doesn't have a iron dome" or just straight up support hamas.

I think we should not go down that rabbit hole. In the war between Israel and Gaza both sides did and do horrible things. Deciding which of the two sides is more evil is just not helping anybody.

Yes shure, but the black and white thing is what i understand as woke, we good everyone else evil, different opinions unwelcome, even if just slightly different. And thats what im seeing on LW as well.
I can definitely live with different opinions where opinions are reasonable (i don't accept "opinions" that are just antisemitism or LGBT hate and similar things, actual racism and sexism just aren't opinions) thats the problem, you cant reason with most people in the woke spectrum, the original idea of woke was being aware of racism and informing about it, great goal, but the "woke" now is as said basically a religion of close minded people.
Sounds to me like it is more about the people aggressively proclaiming "we good everyone else evil" and not so much about the actual people that are being called woke by the likes of trump and other right wing extremists... The people who actually think of themselves as woke are usually not in the extreme spectrum you are referring to.

The woke the trumpists mean is just the new word for communism/socialism. They would definitely call me woke, while the actual woke would call me a conservative and the people i understand as woke did and do call me literally Hitler.
I don't want to be associated with woke, especially not in my country (they played themselves into a corner and get more and more radical but that story would fill a 3 part documentary) but i do definitely align with a big portion of their reasonable points, in some points i have a little different perspective and therefore a slightly other stance, but thats already enough for the woke I mean to call me Nazi/literally Hitler. And the people i think of call themselves woke publicly or even argue that woke is a term that can only apply to black people because they started it (wich i would consider racism)
What is pretty much obvious from our debate here is that the meaning of a "woke" is depending on the person you ask. So maybe we should just not use that term when we want to criticize something, because nobody knows what exactly is meant by it.
