All I ask is that I can rant about how bad the NEA is, or atleast my experece with them was

Please, go off. The NEA is my favorite $700 magazine subscription.
If you want I can DM you a preview of one of my stories, I still need to finish writing my complaint letter to the board (of the state level), that I was requested to write by a few other people.
Neat. Sure I’ll read it. I have a fair amount of experience in writing stuff like that.
Maybe a broader title that covers education in general would help people not to dox themselves. A community aimed at people of one profession may naturally begin to encourage people to reveal quite a bit of personal info. That should be worked avoided, ideally.
That’s a good idea. Making community guidance clear about self-doxing too. However I could imagine this might be difficult to moderate.
I don’t think the comm should be exclusively for educators either. Maybe the topic of education more broadly.
I'm slowly pivoting my career towards teaching, and it is looking promising. I'd love it if there was such a community, as I have no formal training in teaching and would enjoy observing (and maybe participating in) the discussion.
I think just due to it being hosted in Lemmygrad (or hexbear?) it'll naturally avoid the typical subreddit issues.
I could help co-moderate, but fair warning: I tend to be blunt and low on patience on the internet, and as I said, I'm not particularly experienced.
Glad to have more class conscious people in the field. If you need any advice let me know.
I'm not a teacher specifically, but I work in education, and wouldn't mind seeing a comm like that. It would be nice to feel like some of the people I work with might be lurking here.
Lemmygrad and Hexbear are pretty small all things considered. It would be WILD if one of my colleagues even knew what Lemmy was.
