New mouse day. Logitech G502 Hero. Seems okay, hope it lasts longer than the Razer's I've been using the last few years. I'm heavy handed, I feel I'm heavy everything, I wear stuff out.

My lunch today

Potato pommes, cheese and gravy. I ate it with a spoon. Delicious.

[–] [email protected] 5 points 4 months ago (1 children)

Half a bag of mini potato, 4 parsnip, an onion, an apple, a capsicum, 2 tomatoes, and a full garlic. There will not be dinner.

pile of vegan roast veg

Nor personal space being invaded.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 4 months ago

Eh, roasted garlic is really sweet. I don’t think it causes stink like the raw stuff, but if you want to check my armpits tomorrow…

You both win, I'm eating a bowl of dahl mud. Papadums in the microwave are nice though.

I think I've caught one of the viruses going around, I'm starting to get a sore throat. Covid test was negative at least, so I can still count myself a member of the small "never had Covid" group. But if I'm part of the "feels like swallowing razor blades" group that someone went home from work with yesterday that will be little comfort.

[–] [email protected] 8 points 4 months ago (2 children)

If you THINK its covid chances are it probably is. If you cant even focus on video games it DEFFO is.

TV review. Mother's Instinct. How boring, how unoriginal, another spree killer movie. But wait, this one is edgy, it has 1960s repressed housewives with perfect make up. πŸ™„

2 hobbits because the production is pretty and the leads are good and maybe you like these stories

The Acolyte. This is NOT the Mandalorian. No fucks given for any of the characters, acting is passable. This show has had a charisma bypass.

maybe 1/2 hobbit cos it's made in that incredible surround studio

Does anyone here use this kind of heater?

Just wondering if it's safe? Can't find much info online. Was worried about CO2 poisoning.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 4 months ago

We had these in our homes growing up (lifetime renter, almost every house had one). Like Mean said, they were (should have) removed.

One time, ours just wasn't working. Dad had a poke around and got our landlord to send a guy out. He pulled it a bit apart, and it turns out a huntsman was chilling out in there, staying warm during winter, and blocking the pilot light so the heater didn't seem to be working.

Look at tenants Vic website, and see what you can do to get your landlord to remove it/service it. They're really not great from a safety or energy efficiency point of view.

[–] [email protected] 4 points 4 months ago (1 children)

Are you renting? Ask the landlord last time it got serviced. if it hasnt been in the last 12-24 months ask to get it done.

Vic Gov spent a lot of money recently replacing these in all public properties after the death of a tenant due to CO poisoning. It was a particular brand and model (Vulcan I think) in that case.

I would avoid if it's a gas one and ask for a replacement.

Not saying your one is affected, but might pay to search some Vic gov sites regarding your particular model.

My mum used to have one - gave us all the heebee jeebies when the flame went out but the gas still kept on a-coming. OK when new but there's better options out there now. Replace if possible.

Awesome. Will do. I have a split system but it barely heats the house.

[–] [email protected] 4 points 4 months ago

What you need to do is vacuum out as much dust as you can and give it a wipe down as best you can. Then you run it on all high settings for at least an hour. You might want to leave the door open for that.

Pick up a detector next time you're out. It gives you the instructions in the box.

[–] [email protected] 6 points 4 months ago

splitty is gonna be cheaper to run. It might just need a clean, you'd be surprised how much that helps. It also wont heat a whole house, you've gotta prioritize rooms.

[–] [email protected] 5 points 4 months ago

Not for years... I'd get one of those carbon monoxide stickers and put it in the room.

Ballarat road's fucked again. Looks like someone's flipped a trailer over

Edit: nah, T bone, some gronk ran a red light

[–] [email protected] 5 points 4 months ago (1 children)

Back in the day, before the Deer Park bypass was built, Ballarat road was a freaking nightmare to get on and off the Ring road.

[–] [email protected] 4 points 4 months ago (1 children)
[–] [email protected] 5 points 4 months ago (2 children)

Western Ring Road technically but just the Ring Road to us veterans.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 4 months ago (1 children)
[–] [email protected] 5 points 4 months ago

Ok. Technically yes but no one calls it that. Unless you're a tourist.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 4 months ago (1 children)

ring road is new to me ...lol

[–] [email protected] 5 points 4 months ago (1 children)

Ring road is good because it changes names from Western Ring Rd to Metropolitan Ring Rd so you have to know which bit you are talking about. Although there is also a Geelong Ring Rd which can lead to confusion too. Personally I tend to think of it as %Ring Rd, because % is the wildcard function on the work computer system so I always use that to prevent problems with a caller misidentifying which bit they are on.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 4 months ago

There's also a Ballarat ring road, although that's more of a road than a freeway. Has a massive roundabout though
