Have just heaved a packet of sausages, some curry paste, a shittonne of vegetables and the last leftover can of the cider into the slow cooker. Dinner will be ready at 8 ish. Dunno what you'd call it - bangers & hash stew maybe? Melbourne coddle? Kept back some parsley & lemon zest & garlic for stirring through at the last minute.

The crisper drawer is now empty. Note to self - buy more grog.

This is a very traditional Aussie stew, real pioneer fare.

Nah. That's just curried sausages and extras.

Note to you - buy more grog.

Yours truly got two dates (one maybe Saturday and the other Sunday) this weekend. Super excited for Sunday one as I like her but not too sure on Saturday 😊

We're planning a garden visit followed by drinks at a board games cafe on Sunday!! Should I get flowers? What do I wear?!! I'm nervous now πŸ˜ͺ

[–] [email protected] 10 points 4 months ago (1 children)

Some unsolicited advice?

I’m nervous now πŸ˜ͺ

Why? She likes you( or else she wouldnt have said yes). You like her. There is nothing to be nervous about. Dress up a little, remember your manners, bring a couple of good (or terrible) jokes or funny stories and you're sorted.

Thank you! I needed to hear this 😊

Don’t get them flowers

too much on a first date. A bit TOO keen IMO.

Understood! Thank you 😊

Wow, wild day... Drove past a servo and saw a ton of smoke. Called 000 and chucked a U turn and then the smoke was all gone. Decided to hop on the FRV radio, and apparently it was caused by a diesel generator for a pressure washer and was more or less just a puff of smoke

[–] [email protected] 4 points 4 months ago (1 children)

The old smokey generator startup. A common caise of smoke alarms. Was 000 nice to you?

Yeah. But she didn't know how to spell Maribyrnong and honestly neither do I. I had maps open since I didn't know the address so I was able to read off of that.

Interestingly it looked like the liberty next door had been burnt in a fire too, some of the petrol pumps were a bit charred and the entrances were all blocked off

[–] [email protected] 3 points 4 months ago (1 children)

I generally give up about 3 letters in and go for Mar% and let the computer figure it out 😁

[–] [email protected] 2 points 4 months ago (1 children)

It's the "byrnong" part that always gets me. Mari..benong? Binong? Bingbong?

Headache has subsided thankfully.

Annoyed that I went back to sleep this morning, but I'll be continuing with 6am on the weekends as well.

Time for some video games and guitar.

Had the first couples counseling the other day. It was interesting. Forced to be diplomatic for lack of a better word we were articulating points that sort of surprised each other I think. The therapist also had me figured out in no time at all "Shit childhood, yeah?" "yep" "Parents didnt love each other?" "Nup". Guess I'm not the first she's seen.

[–] [email protected] 13 points 4 months ago

Good on you for giving it a go man. I think it takes a lot of courage for a couple to seek help to address their issues.

I'm enjoying hearing people complain about the cold around the office. It's presently 18.5Β° and sunny in Perth. Yes, it was a bit chilly this morning, but nothing like what Melbourne goes through.

I guess it always boils down to what people are accustomed to.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 4 months ago

I'm not exactly enduring The Revenant , I'm ok ...lol

Our Brisbane office gang always complain its too hot in the building, whilst the Melbourne crew roll around with puffer jackets still on in the office. Would love to know WTF building and facilities actually DO.

[–] [email protected] 4 points 4 months ago

Oh, inside our building is fairly steady. Temprature is set to 23Β°. I purchased a little digital thermometer that I have at my desk. It was only 21Β° on the thing first thing this morning before the building filled. But, it's back to 22.9Β° right now.

Would love to know WTF building and facilities actually DO.

This will boil down to money. It is loads less work for them to arrange proper repairs and improvements to building facilities, as that really reduces the number of maintenance requests they get. So, they would want to make sure everything is repaired and serviced etc. But the building owners put limitations on that - can only spend $x on improvements and $y on temperature control etc. Then, they stand between the tenants/employees and the owners to shield the latter group from complaints.
