This finding demonstrates that ASD + ADHD is neither an endophenocopy nor an additive pathology of ASD and ADHD, but an entirely different neuroanatomical pathology. In addition, ASD + ADHD displayed altered GM volume asymmetries in the prefrontal regions responsible for executive function and theory of mind compared with ASD-only.

I didn't get diagnosed with ADHD until I pursued it viciously as an adult. I always wonder how I could have actually been treated as a child instead of dealing with doctors arguing if I was ADHD or ASD, as I could only be given one label back then (2000s). Good to see that there is now research being done on this and that we are moving forward finally.

Do you still have the pdf of the paper? I couldn't access it through the links you provided and it's not on Sci-Hub yet. It looks interesting and I'd like to read it :)

You can download the paper here: https://we.tl/t-tQf5WF46I5

It expires in 7 days, if you miss it, give me a ping and I will send a new link. Or add me on matrix (link in bio) and I will send it there.

I've got it. Thanks!

While I am in no position to understand the paper, the possibility of AuDHD being a different pathology is exciting to me.

It makes a great point on why we should pursue a dual diagnosis instead of focusing only on one side of it, regardless if that is ADHD or ASD. It's a different problem and there is no guarantee that remedies for either pathology are going to help AuDHD people.

It's disappointing how little research there is on AuDHD, and hopefully findings like this are going to help us get more attention to our problems.

Is there a non paywalled version available for this? Would be highly interested...

Usually https://annas-archive.org is best for that, but it seems this is too new to be on it yet.
