Today's question: i know you can get sub-meter circuits for mains. But can you get ones with safety switches built in? πŸ€”

In other news, mordialloc vintage market was a terrible place to take me to and his lordship has no right to complain about what happened when he did. Not when I literally just bought a pikestaff

Pike or halberd? Cool whichever.

A medieval pikestaff type pikestaff? Cool. πŸ‘

[–] [email protected] 4 points 5 months ago (1 children)

technically a pike pole I suppose, but this looks like a home built jobbo of the kind designed to do horrible things or possibly someone who got way into their kid playing Roman Centurion #3 at easter and had genX levels of child safety in mind.

......but let's be honest, who's gonna argue semantics with the woman wielding a chunk of spiked and curved metal on a 50mm diameter shaft?

I has an encyclopedia of these types of things. I'll look it up. A pike is a long stick with a simple pointy end.

home now, it's getting cold, sat down with some hot coffee and those nice strawberry wafers . oh noes, I accidentally picked up the peanut flavoured ones 😡

[–] [email protected] 4 points 5 months ago (1 children)

Coffee so late? Isn’t that going to make it hard to sleep?

Bummer about the wafers :(

Does anyone have suggestions for vacuum space bags that stay compressed please? The budget ones I bought somehow keep reinflating themselves no matter how carefully I seal them and suck out all the air.

Ps. Is there any difference between the Sard brand laundry soap bar and the pack of generic laundry soaps next to it? Is it just the inclusion of eucalyptus?

[–] [email protected] 3 points 5 months ago (1 children)

Does Howard's storage world still exist? I have old vac seal bags from there that are still sealed 10 years later. Cheaper newer ones barely last a week.

Bigw sells the same ones as Howards for $39

I recorded my little guitar jam on my phone yesterday just so I could listen back to it. It's actually good and I'm turning it into a track.

It's kind of about being fucked over by that guy who called me "family" and then turned on me for no reason.

It's cathartic.

I read the last sentence wrong and thought you were talking about the pope

Uh oh. The next bus departure listed on PTV is 2:46. Which is a time that is in the past. Personally I subscribe to the idea that time only moves forwards and never backwards, however when I ride PT I always end up feeling like perhaps I need to put some stock in that reversing time theory.

Jokes aside, the tracker thing is working now (it wasn't earlier), and shows the bus as being on its way from the depot. So I think the bus that was running before must have broken down so they're replacing it with a different bus. I was on the bus earlier and it was sounding a bit unhealthy. The brake hold thing/handbrake they use when stopped was making a horrid noise when it was released, and the bus hadn't been fitted with a tracker (at least not one hooked into the PTV API)

Edit: the bus showed up, 7 minutes late (unusual for this route). Same bus as I was on before, just with an angrier bus driver. No clue what all that was about, but google thinks my bus is delayed 2 hours and 34 minutes and seems confused about how I'm on a bus at all

Edit edit: he ran a red light and seemed to be a huge fan of braking (why brake in advance when you could just wait until the last minute and slam the brakes as hard as they can go?)

Fun little daily game I found in one of the other communities.

4 words of different lengths to be made out of the letters available and all according to a theme.

https://jumblie.com/

I’m ashamed todays one took me so long all things considered.

Tried 'story' and 'myth'. Both were incorrect. I give up

Try types of publications that fall under nonfiction

[–] [email protected] 4 points 5 months ago

Thanks, that was fun!

I fully fell asleep on the couch in my oodie while I had the radio on listening to the footy.

Just started to feel waves of drowsiness taking over me then I was out like a light for maybe an hour.

Also the garlic toast I made and had might have had too much garlic.

I have the breath of death now.

Sounds like your body needed the rest to recharge from the week's stress? It's good that you were able to relax though. This weather definitely makes it easy to not do very much at all. It's not even 5pm and I'm seriously feeling like falling asleep as well. Low power mode...

After some vacuuming, mopping and cleaning the outside of my windows I honestly feel like I'm boiling!!!

Windows aren't perfectly spotless on the outside but I've gotten the worst off.

Almost finished restoring the kukri (gurkha knife) last night. Interestingly when placed in vinegar several times overnight, it's the edge (hardest bit) that's most affected chemically.

A word of advice is don't tackle the edge after a few drinks. Looked like a murder scene.

Pretty therapeutic cleaning out my carport after 3.5 years 😬 binned a whole lot of old crap from my old work car, swept up a huge pile of leaves, dust and debris, removed the years of neglect. Now it's unrecognisably clean and tidy! So much less depressing to look at! I'm sure my neighbours will be happy too.

Aint much for a Saturday but I definitely feel like I've earned the right to chill for the rest of the day. Not gonna push myself too hard this weekend...

[–] [email protected] 2 points 5 months ago

You've achieved something you wanted to get done, don't belittle that! Enjoy your chill afternoon 😊

Aaaand I changed my mind again and I'm now at a resort in NSW which looks suspiciously like a motel. Nice though. Has Foxtel so I've got the NRL on and a nice cold beverage.

They even have stubby holders! Cheers!

Try The Sebel next time. Slightly better views
