THE POLICE PROBLEM

The police problem is that police are policed by the police. Cops are accountable only to other cops, which is no accountability at all.

99.9999% of police brutality, corruption, and misconduct is never investigated, never punished, never makes the news, so it's not on this page.

When cops are caught breaking the law, they're investigated by other cops. Details are kept quiet, the officers' names are withheld from public knowledge, and what info is eventually released is only what police choose to release — often nothing at all.

When police are fired — which is all too rare — they leave with 'law enforcement experience' and can easily find work in another police department nearby. It's called "Wandering Cops."

When police testify under oath, they lie so frequently that cops themselves have a joking term for it: "testilying." Yet it's almost unheard of for police to be punished or prosecuted for perjury.

Cops can and do get away with lawlessness, because cops protect other cops. If they don't, they aren't cops for long.

The legal doctrine of "qualified immunity" renders police officers invulnerable to lawsuits for almost anything they do. In practice, getting past 'qualified immunity' is so unlikely, it makes headlines when it happens.

All this is a path to a police state.

In a free society, police must always be under serious and skeptical public oversight, with non-cops and non-cronies in charge, issuing genuine punishment when warranted.

Police who break the law must be prosecuted like anyone else, promptly fired if guilty, and barred from ever working in law-enforcement again.

    That's the solution.

Our definition of ‘cops’ is broad, and includes prison guards, probation officers, shitty DAs and judges, etc — anyone who has the authority to fuck over people’s lives, with minimal or no oversight.

RULES

Real-life decorum is expected. Please don't say things only a child or a jackass would say in person.

If you're here to support the police, you're trolling. Please exercise your right to remain silent.

Saying ~~cops~~ ANYONE should be killed lowers the IQ in any conversation. They're about killing people; we're not.

Please don't dox or post calls for harassment, vigilantism, tar & feather attacks, etc.

Please also abide by the instance rules.

It you've been banned but don't know why, check the moderator's log. If you feel you didn't deserve it, hey, I'm new at this and maybe you're right. Send a cordial PM, for a second chance.

This is like if you watched someone choke to death for over an hour, did nothing to stop it, prevented other people from helping, then showed up to the funeral to give a speech about how sad you are.

I'm totally shocked that the comments are turned off for all of their posts

[–] [email protected] 0 points 5 months ago

They deserve everything they get, but on the flip side, they do have to attempt to reconnect with the community at some point.

[–] [email protected] 0 points 5 months ago

Eat shit Homer, we all saw the cowardice on display.

Oh fuck off. We all know cops aren't our friends. All they do is abuse their power and do their best to find whatever they can to arrest you or fine you, with very few examples of cops who don't do it. Piss off. Plus, the only thing they're doing is jack shit for 70 minutes during an emergency cUz ScUrRy

[–] [email protected] 0 points 5 months ago

Shoulda let them know the perp was black, they seem to get trigger happy in those "situations"

[–] [email protected] 0 points 5 months ago

While the incident itself remains unforgivable, this particular post isn’t quite as enraging and self serving as I was expecting.

To be clear, though, that’s far from a compliment.

[–] [email protected] 0 points 5 months ago (2 children)

If they gave a half of a fuck, they'd have done something. Not in the moment, it's done already, but in the time since that. But they don't even aknowledge their documented and publicized all over the world passive role in this shooting. Billions of people know they suck, and they don't even care to do anything. I don't know how not to feel a basic shame knowing that about oneself.

[–] [email protected] 0 points 5 months ago (1 children)

They intimidated and stalked victims and critics? That's something!

Winnie, stop, that's not honey at all! Screamed his friends as he stopped eating the brown goo and started to smear it across his face and body.

God I hope they were too dumb to disable comments.

[–] [email protected] 0 points 5 months ago

No. They are too afraid of free speech; they block all comments

Interesting choice of word here.

The donut pic is especially appropriate in this case

[–] [email protected] 0 points 5 months ago (1 children)

It's a clown face, but yeah, colors and shape seems like this one donut from Simpsons: The Movie promo materials (:

[–] [email protected] 0 points 5 months ago (1 children)

Oh, I’m on Fedia, and this magazine/community has a pic of a donut with pink frosting and sprinkles. That’s the typical Homer donut.

[–] [email protected] 0 points 5 months ago

Ah, see that now.

[–] [email protected] 0 points 5 months ago

The Ulvade PD really stood there, while the lunatic murderer was running murdering people in the school.

when “Fuck the Fire Department!” has a VERY different meaning from “Fuck the Police!” …

[–] [email protected] 0 points 5 months ago (1 children)

We, the Uvalde police department, stand with the community.

Specifically, we stand behind you in case there is any danger in front of us so we don't have to risk anything.

[–] [email protected] 0 points 5 months ago

No, they stand in front of you blocking you from saving anybody. They didn't hide behind people that wanted to be hero's, they actively preventing it.

[–] [email protected] 0 points 5 months ago (1 children)

This incident alone opened up eyes of lot of bootlickers on the right. Police is not your friend, they won't "protect" you, you are lucky if they don't kill your sorry ass

[–] [email protected] 0 points 5 months ago

Their eyes were opened momentarily before going right back to licking boots the moment students started to protest.

[–] [email protected] 0 points 5 months ago

"To serve and protect, within reason of course"

[–] [email protected] 0 points 5 months ago (2 children)

Uvalde PD will stand with you, outside for 70 minutes before doing anything of value.

[–] [email protected] 0 points 5 months ago

They didn't do anything after 70 minutes either. State agents were the ones to finally do something.

[–] [email protected] 0 points 5 months ago (1 children)

they won’t just stand around outside, they’ll also actively block anyone trying to help

[–] [email protected] 0 points 5 months ago

It was their jurisdiction!

[–] [email protected] 0 points 5 months ago (1 children)

Remember, it was a hard day for us too
