WOULD YOU PLEASE TELL US YOUR SPECIFIC ISSUE WITH KDE? JUST REPEATING THE WORD "JANKY" OVER AND OVER IS NOT DESCRIPTIVE. TELL US WHAT'S WRONG.
Linux Memes
A little experimental Linux memes community. We'll see how this works out!
fam it's a shitpost not a bug report or support request. calm down. it's just generally janky, random shit breaks without any apparent rhyme or reason to it and there's no apparent way to fix it aside from breaking everything else i use by switching to wayland.
I mean sure, general feeling of weird bugs here and there. I have those too. But nothing that really bothers me that much.
I'm a little over a year in running full-time linux on my desktop.
No deal breakers in KDE. In fact it's only gotten better, and it does some things built-in that gnome doesn't, like per-monitor wallpaper slideshows.
My favourite part is that you don't have to install poorly maintained extensions and extension managers just to change things to your liking.
this has to be a joke, i just tinkered with it for a couple weeks to check in and most of the extensions i tried either just broke things or didn't work at all.
ITT fanboys pretend they've never seen a hiccup out of the buggiest Linux DE in existence.
You act like a literal child
ok boomer
ITT: OP shits on popular project, refuses to elaborate, gets flustered about lack of agreement.
"Fanboys"
ITT op posts a meme to make light of their frustration and a bunch of neckbeards take it super fucking personally that it's not formatted like a support ticket
You're posting a thread where you complain about a desktop environment that's obviously doing pretty well for itself without being specific about what the problem is, so yeah, people are going to contradict you with their real experiences.
people are literally saying shit like "fight me" and screaming demands for specifics like my stupid meme about being generally disappointed with a desktop environment is a support ticket or something
What bugs you encounter is going to vary based on what you want to do, exact version, etc.
That KDE is as popular as it is, already means that despite your experience, it can be and is used daily by tons of people. To the point that your stance of "it's unusable" can't possibly be all there is to it.
You walked in holding your personal experience above everyone else's, as if god just handed you another five commandments.
And you expected people to worship your "obviously correct" anecdotal view?
why are you all so emotionally attached to a piece of software? go outside.
"Go touch grass" is your best comeback?
My problem isn't with you shitting on something I like.
It's you placing your own opinion on a pedestal, then getting salty when the rest of us pick it up and set it back down on the same level as everyone else's.
i think it's funny how bent out of shape everyone's getting over a meme and you sound salty af to me but go off
Hey, you're the one refusing to budge against an entire thread telling you your take is bad.
You're a sample size of one, just one other person having a good experience with KDE reduces the validity of your stance by half...
And yet.
and yet it drives you mad to no end that someone doesn't like your favorite DE and "idk bro it works fine for me skill issue git gud son" doesn't change their mind. please continue entertaining me for free thusly.
actually, why would you expect someone to change their opinion based on how a bunch of nerds talk down to them for speaking their experience?
Ok, now you're just trying to get a rise out of me. And assuming you're succeeding, as if you can read tone of voice and facial expression in online comments.
This is juvenile. Grow up. I will not respond beyond this, in fact I am blocking you.
I don't care what DE you use, or which ones you like. Nor did I claim your problems weren't real, or merely skill-related.
But something most people do care about, is having a reasonable relationship with reality.
You put forward a view that doesn't hold water. One which is purely anecdotal and not even close to the universal experience considering the popularity of what you claim to be "janky in every conceivable way".
Everyone here poured water into the sieve you thought was a bowl, and for some reason you're still trying to have a discussion about whether it flowed right through.
That still doesn't mean anyone's trying gaslight you. It simply means there's more to it than your one personal experience, and that your anecdotal conclusions are therefore premature.
i'm only picking at you because you're being an ass
Overrated, I get
But janky? While it isn't my DE most of the time, I've never had any issues.
What kind of jank is going on that I'm missing, so I don't use it where said jank would shank my flank.
I've been using Kde for about 3 years now and to be fair, do have some issues from time to time.
Most annoying has to be that when I try to launch discord for example, I type "discor" and press enter immediately. But it hasn't really registered the "r" yet so it launches discover instead. But I just learned to wait a bit after typing.
Kde also had some crashes, although very rarely. So nothing I really care about.
I use plasma because it themes gtk better than a gtk de themes qt, on debian stable because I want a stable system. few weeks ago gtk theming broke. now all my gtk apps are stuck in blinding light mode
It's been a long time since I last tried KDE but I never had luck with it. As much of a pain as it is to get working the way I wanted with extensions, once I got the setup I want GNOME is a thing of true performance and efficiency beauty.
really? everything always acts weird and breaks on me, every time I've used it for 10+ years. it's gorgeous but unusable in my book, and has been for a long time. it's disappointing really, checking to see if KDE doesn't suck yet and then sticking with it for a month plus because i really want it to work has practically become a form of self-harm for me. i always ditch it because the jank is un-ignorable no matter how hard i try.
Hi Nvidia user.
what's the jank?
let's be real here, what about plasma isn't janky? for 10+ years every time i try it nearly every part of the UI is bugged in some way, no way in hell all of you never have issues.
let's be real here, what about your posting isn't janky? for 10+ minutes every time I read it nearly every part of the post is jank in some way, no way in hell will you explain what's janky.
i take pride in my jank, and am up front about the generally poor quality of my user experience.
