I use Gmail as a trash account for easy logins and proton for the rest with Gmail forwarded to proton so I never have to open Gmail itself.

much thanks to @gary_host_laptop for the logo design :)
I have an account with Tuta. I set it up to be able to use my own domain, so Ive created a few throwaway accts.
If you're making a throwaway account or something not important you can use 10minutemail. It's a website and is free. Been using it for a while.
How does protonmail make it tedious? I use ProtonPass and it creates a new email for me in one click and I dont pay for protonmail. Every newsletter or account i register uses a new email that are forwarded to my protonmail
You say you use ProtonPass with a free Proton account? Do you know if they have a limit for creating these new emails? I've seen ProtonPass advertised but I just assumed it was a premium feature. When I say its tedious, its because when I create new ProtonMail accounts you first have to verify it with another non-Proton account which I find a bit annoying as I dont use services like Gmail etc , but more importantly, Proton has been blocking signups on newly created emails (if you just created the email and then use it to verify a service sign up it gets blocked).
I’m not sure if there’s a limit, i hope not lol

mail.tm is pretty nice for this. It's meant to be used as a throwaway email service, but you can also save the login credentials and reuse the email address if you need it more than one time.
For trash sites (random forums, free software downloads, porn etc.) that do not get my real information, and it doesn't matter if I lose the account, I just use a random 10 minute email site.
For anything where I input my personal information, or deem slightly more important, I use a catch-all address in Protonmail with my own domain.
Duckduckgo has an email redirect thing where you can make temporary addresses that forward to your normal one.
I like guerrilla mail (short term email generation) but I’ve found that a lot of their domains are blocked by these sites I’m trying to sign up for >:(
I use forwarders on a domain I own that point to my primary acct.
I use (and created) https://port87.com. It lets you use a different address for every account and keeps them all organized. It’s great for managing accounts. (And I have literally hundreds of accounts.)
One of the nice things is you don’t need to create a new email beforehand. You can give out an email address that starts with yourusername-, and it just works. You get a new label in your account that you can approve and it goes in with all your other labels.
You can also enable screening on a label if you wanna use it for real people, then it will screen new senders before you see their email.
Prices? Or am I dumb again, and just not seeing them?
Sorry, I don’t have the prices up on the landing site. Here’s the breakdown:
- 500MB of storage, receive unlimited mail, free
- send mail, $1/month (to prevent spam)
- 2GB of storage, $2/month
- 10GB, $6
- 20GB, $10
- 100GB, $20
- 1TB, $40
I’m working right now on custom domains. I haven’t finalized the price, but right now my plan is to do unlimited domains for $10/month, plus $4 for each additional user.
Create a different alias for everything using a service like:
- SimpleLogin
- Addy (AnonAddy)
- Firefox Relay
- Apple Hide My Email
+1 for simplelogin.
Cancelled proton unlimited since the majority of their platform is lacking features on Linux and switched to just a simplelogin subscription to pocket the savings.
They offer integrated aliases via Proton Pass now.
If you're paying for Proton, you have access to SimpleLogin, which lets you make unique addresses that will forward to your real address. You can even respond from those addresses.
There are several other services that do the same thing (e.g., AnonAddy).
Perhaps I haven't used it to its full capacity but, I have a free proton account and I still have access to simple login
Yeah you get like 10. Which is still pretty useful if you manage them correctly. Like one for banking, one for gaming, random signups, etc
Thank you for sharing!
Courvix, but I think signups are disabled at the moment.
Protonmail or Gmail.
Edit: but lately also Apple's email obfuscation service tied to iCloud. But I'm an Apple platforms kinda guy.
