Go check out the 5 year chart before listening to any of the bullshit from this asshole:

Hmm. It would be interesting to see a chart of this compared to their prices over the same period.

"Oh no, I'm one acquisition short of a monopsony, so you should all blame suppliers instead of me! I definitely have no influence over the cost of input!"

I want a public option. Make basic essentials purchasable online from a warehouse near you and then expand the existing Canada Post distribution network to bring me my damn rice and beans.

That would be awesome. Since it's a free market, what's stopping crown corporations from participating?

And the same public that's suffering from this price gouging is about to vote them in nationally. I don't understand people.

Right?! I can get my fruit and veg locally, but there should be no problem getting canned food, dried staples, and shelf-stable goods delivered.

I think the only thing stopping it is political will. I haven't heard anyone else even calling for it.

Not even delivered. I'm happy picking it up at local Canada post

Galen, my man, when the local boutique butcher in my area is beating you on prices you’ve got a problem.

He argued it’s easier for customers to “point fingers” at grocers like Loblaw than at other players in the supply chain or global factors leading to higher prices.

Given Loblaws has control over a lot of that supply chain and has record profits over the last few years, so...

I looked that up recently, in the USA, for us. Many major food corps are still taking in almost double (Cargill, Tyson, fur example) their prior record profits. Standing with my Canadian brothers and sisters in solidarity as I rue that we just pay more and think it's ok, here.

How dumb do they think we are? The problem isn’t your supply chain, it’s your record profits raked in by gouging us. Gouging is their new business model.

I’m starting to think these pigs won’t change until we start putting their heads on sticks.

Someone should tell him of this one weird trick that would allow them to reduce their prices by half and still make a profit...

Selling Butter At 54% Profit: Leaked Docs Show Loblaws’ Exorbitant Markups

Dear Galen, Tell me why the cost of DOG FOOD has more than doubled in a year.
Then tell me how you think the country forgot that your family price-fixed bread.

“Everybody knows our chairman (Galen Weston),” he said.”

Yeah, you’re right. We do know that piece of shit.
