This is the first time I've seen this posted without someone in the comments calling it fatphobic and getting suuuuuper defensive about that.
I am loving the fediverse.
A place for majestic STEMLORD peacocking, as well as memes about the realities of working in a lab.

This is a science community. We use the Dawkins definition of meme.

Given that being overweight and having diabetes is highly correlated I don't see the issue.
I think the issue with the populace regarding weight problems is how they treat it like it's a disease people choose. It's more complicated than that.
But there is some people that are overweight and in some form of denial about the health issues and that think it should just be fine and accepted by others as normal which doesn't help either.
Why is this in science memes though?
It's fiction-biology research.
Because otherwise nobody would get the joke (they would, though)
I'm old enough to remember this comic, back when it had text in the 4th panel explaining the joke. Then people collectively decided it's better without that.
I don't really know pokemons, so forgive the stupid question. Is this just a diabetes joke?
Yes. His actual game type is βnormal.β
Yeah, pretty much.
Snorlax needs all the hugs
Not as much as he needs affordable insulin
The doctor says I have the sugars
Itβs serious business
Hahahaha aww
