I love these, even though I know one day I will trip and fall into the marsh. It hasn't happened yet, but I know it will.

As a mosquito magnet, that is what what hell looks like to me.

Simply go higher. At some altitude there just are no mosquitos anymore.

Lousiana got some nice ones. Sometimes the trees are dense enough you get a full canopy of spanish moss. Some of the only real forests I’ve been able to see in person, beautiful area.

Is the picture included along the AT? It looks actually familiar

[–] [email protected] 7 points 6 months ago (2 children)

I thought it looked like NJ

[–] [email protected] 2 points 6 months ago (1 children)

Thats exactly where on the AT I was thinking it was

[–] [email protected] 2 points 6 months ago

Yeah, the NJ section of the AT was beautiful.

Feels like its too nice to be NJ, but I only say that while currently inside the pine barrens

Is the pixelated purple flower fireweed?

Nevermind, I thought I could narrow it to a region based on the plant but it's got a wide ranging habitat.

Oh man, I love me a marshy boardwalk. Especially when it gets kinda springy.

I'm getting some springy marshy boardwalk this weekend. Can't wait.

Sounds nice! I'm envious 😄.

Hoping to see some echidnas, fingers crossed!

[–] [email protected] 1 points 6 months ago (1 children)

For real?? Like, in the wild or at a zoo? Either way THAT'S AMAZING (genuinely)!

[–] [email protected] 3 points 6 months ago (1 children)

The wild. I live in Canberra - it's called the Bush Capital for a reason. Wildlife on your doorstep (or a 20min drive away at most).

No way! I can't imagine getting to see echidna in the wild. Hot dang, Australian wildlife is so cool!

And scary. Sorry, I'm an American and we're pretty much constantly told the most horrifying stories of Australia lol.

Most of our wildlife is cute I reckon. You don't see the scary stuff that often. Unless you mean spiders and really the big ones are harmless.
