I made a dating profile on Boo. My expectations are at the Mariana trench level.

I have decided I am going on a holiday at home. Imma just gonna read books and do minimum around the house. There are a dozen antique travel books I haven't read yet, aka a Baedeker holiday as my Belgian neighbour used to say. The science and stuff books can wait.

Will have even more frozen food than usual. Might even get a cleaner in.

Tan Son Nhat airport really needs a facelift, Botox, fillers and everything else you can throw at it.

Still cleaner than Tullamarine though.

Tomorrow is my 20th anniversary of arriving in Australia.

Boy it's been a ride.

Tell that to the local BJJ community...

Hey now. Trained today and managed to submit a higher belt by pure will and strength.

[–] [email protected] 4 points 5 months ago (1 children)

That's so incredibly sweet. Thank you. I'm actually blushing

That kind of sums up Australia. Except Aussie beer being the best in the world. Not even top 10 in my books 😁

I must say, the local jargon takes a while getting used to.

By now I've managed to get a good handle on it.

Todays dose of overly dramatic sombre old music:

Forgotten Garden by Martin Bennet. Usually played when anything about a 2/10 on the badness scale happens

Eliza Pt 1 by Milan Pilar. Usually played when something about a 5 or 6/10 on the badness scale happens

anything worse than that doesn't have a theme song, because they'll hire a whole marching band to make it even more dramatic

Lesson learned: Persona 3 has teeth. I had hoped based on Persona 4 and 5 it'd be fine, but...nope.

Any recommendations for a game to play to cleanse my palate post whatever the fuck that ending was?

Thinking about heading to a park bass music rave (think DnB etc.) tonight but it's a 3-4hr round trip commute by PT (bus.. so no guarantees there) with 40mins of that walking hrmm... on the fence but they're always good times..

For reference it takes me 3hrs on PT to get to queenscliff on 3 connecting services which is 120km away. This thing is 10km away (kew to bulleen) and 2 services... crazy.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 5 months ago (1 children)

Where do you find out about these events?

[–] [email protected] 1 points 5 months ago

It's basically all fb.

But park parties are a bit rare these days.

[–] [email protected] 4 points 5 months ago

Maybe you should come over to my hood then lol. There's some sort of event happening at the park. They've been blasting doof doof since 4 o'clock, complete with lights and all the works. No clue what they're playing all I can hear is UNTZUNTZUNTZ which occasionally stops for somebody to yell and then everybody screams

Some bad shit going down in Bondi Junction. Hate to see that sort of news. At least it seems to be resolving with shoppers being allowed to leave after the centre locked down.

[–] [email protected] 5 points 5 months ago

Hate to profile, but the bloke looks like some dero shit cunt (I’m allowed the say that, cunt stabbed a baby the therefore that’s what he is). Anyone wanna put money on he was known to police?!

We have GOT to do something about mental health in this country. And we’ve gotta stop letting personal freedoms trump your risk to the greater public.

[–] [email protected] 4 points 5 months ago

That sounds awful :(

Current updates are that the offender has been shot and killed by police, 7 people including a baby were stabbed, but the condition of the victims hasn't been released

Edit: 5 people have been killed

[–] [email protected] 3 points 5 months ago (1 children)

Watching some of the updates. This is so distressing.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 5 months ago (1 children)

I made the mistake of looking at some of the footage as it was being posted. It wasn't a good sight. But the bloke who blocked the knife man with a bollard is an absolute hero and made a shit day slightly less shir

[–] [email protected] 1 points 5 months ago (1 children)

I’ve got channel 9 on at the moment. They seem to be running coverage about it and probably will for the next few hours.

I think they said there were 8 injured as well who were taken to hospital.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 5 months ago (2 children)

I heard they were harrassing all the poor people coming out the second they walked through the doors. Are they still doing that?

[–] [email protected] 1 points 5 months ago

They were, yes.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 5 months ago

I’m not sure. There’s a lot of press conferences happening now.

They did interview a good number of the public from what seems like earlier recounting all the details of the ideal and what they saw during the event.

Yeah seems like some really deranged fucker going around stabbing people out of nowhere. Including a mum and baby!

Thank fuck he didn't have a gun

[–] [email protected] 5 points 5 months ago

I might need to severely cut down on or leave this other online group due to toxicity. I don't want to have to. :(

Feeling miserable and like shit. I wish I wasn't sick of Minecraft. Maybe I'll find some singleplayer free game that works on Mac and bury myself in that for a while.

[–] [email protected] 8 points 5 months ago

there is nothing wrong with leaving an online group to find one where you'll be happier , you haven't failed

I'm on a few different groups that are based on tv or books and they are just fun and kind, find some like that. 🀞😘
